Halo Development Director has confirmed that despite Halo: Infinite being a next-gen launch title, it will still come on Xbox One. Earlier it was reported that Halo: Infinite is a next-gen launch title and fans were upset that they will not be able to play the game if they do not plan of making the next-gen switch right at launch.
During its reveal last year, Halo: Infinite was a confirmed title for Xbox One with Xbox One X support and Windows 10. Despite it being a launch title for the next generation of consoles, the development director for Halo franchise, Frank O’Connor has confirmed that current generation consoles will also get the title.
The next generation of consoles might be released at the end of next year and it is natural for developers to develop the game for both generations. It happened with the last generation as well as players got titles for both generations for a limited time before developers pulled the plug for the previous generation and focused only on the new one.
Frank revealed this news in a recent tweet response where a fan had asked exactly the same question. You can check out his response below in the tweet.
The leak that was announced just seems infinite will be on the next xbox and not current gen :/ I hope that's wrong @franklez

Halo: Infinite is being called a spiritual reboot of the Halo franchise. It is taking a new direction in its gameplay mechanics as it will include more RPG elements and give players freedom to play solo or with three other players in four player split-screen. This is the first time a Halo game is getting RPG elements.
You can check out Halo: Infinite’s reveal at E3 2018 below although it shows nothing of what the actual game will be about and just shows in-game engine in action. Earlier we got to know that Microsoft has long term plans for Halo: Infinite and it will not include paid loot boxes.
Halo: Infinite is currently in development and no official release date has been announced at this point. If Halo: Infinite is indeed a next-gen launch title, we can be sure that the title will release for both consoles at a time when the new-gen is released or right around the corner.
