Developer Cogwheel Software and publisher Daedalic Entertainment have announced that registrations for the closed beta test for their upcoming sci-fi thriller Hidden Deep are now open. The closed beta will allow players to explore four levels in a vast sub-oceanic research and mining facility inhabited by alien creatures. The game is played in 2D and offers a world full of action, mystery, and danger.
The closed beta is now live, and it will run for several weeks so that the developers can prepare the title for its Early Access release next year. To celebrate this launch, the developer has released a brand-new trailer for the game as well. Check it out below:
Hidden Deep follows your story as you lead a team of four researchers into a mysterious facility located 1.6 KMs below the ocean floor in order to find out what happened to the station’s crew. The station’s entire crew has disappeared, and you must command your team and find out what happened to your colleagues. The game takes its inspiration from classic 80s and 90s classics like Alien and more.
During the game, you will use a variety of gadgets, shoot, blast, and sneak your way through different dangerous alien lairs and traps while trying not to get eaten by the alien creatures. Key features of Hidden Deep include:
- A mission-based single player experience where you control your team directly or by giving orders.
- Story mode with handcrafted levels paying homage to 80s and 90s sci-fi classics.
- Challenge single player and co-op modes with randomized levels for fast-paced, intense action.
- Exploration of suboceanic caves using grappling-hooks, scanners, drones, heavy machinery and more.
- Sneaky and deadly aliens, environmental traps, and other hidden dangers to make your life miserable – and exciting.

Hidden Deep was announced at the start of this year and since then we have seen the title featured during various gaming conventions throughout the year. We still do not have a confirmed release date for the title however we know that the early access of the game is coming out in 2022.
