Hideo Kojima who is the creator of Death Stranding, has teased a 2019 release date for the upcoming and long awaited game. The hint of the release date came in his New Year message in the recent issue of Weekly Famitsu.
The New Year message by Hideo Kojima said, “Is 2019 the year of the Whale? Please look forward to Death Stranding.” This has led to many fans believing that the game is slated for a release in 2019 at least if the exact date is not confirmed.

If the creator of the game can hint something big, then it is safe to say that it is more than likely to see the game for a 2019 release. This is not the first time someone big related to game has hinted about the release. Earlier this month Norman Reedus, who is one of the playable characters of the game, said that he “thinks” the game is coming “early this coming year.”
Norman Reedus also had a thing or two to say about Death Stranding:
It’s not the kinda game where you kill everybody in the room. It’s a game of bringing people together. How you play it is you’re building bridges from here to there, and other people are doing the same, and you connect, and the character that I play is, he’s got this phobia of being touched, and as you play the game the phobia leaves you. It’s complicated but once you’re in it, it doesn’t seem as complicated. It’s constantly surprising you with decisions left and right, and what comes at you, and it’s a real brave game. It’s visually stunning, and the story behind it, it’s a whole ‘nother level, y’know. It’s not Pac-Man, it’s not simple, but the philosophy behind it is one that everybody can get.
The news comes after Hideo Kojima decided not to appear in The Game Awards, which disappointed many fans, where many were expecting a release date. However, Kojima’s new message puts any speculations to rest, and suggests that the game is indeed going to launch in 2019.
