Humankind Beginner’s Guide
Below we have detailed some beginner’s tips and basic information on how to get things started in Humankind
Making your Character
You will begin Humankind by first making yourself a character, a leader for your civilization to look upon as you lead them through years and years of progress and prosperity.
Depending on the type of character you prefer your leader to be, there are various choices you can go for that range from how you want your character to respond to different situations, what their strengths are, and what their behaviors and tendencies are. The game will offer you a balanced character to begin with, but you can also mix and match features that might work best for you.
Explore and Look for Resourceful Territories
There are various territories in Humankind that can range from all sorts of resources, whether it be strategic or lands that yield high amounts of food, iron, and other items. TO make a self-sufficient and powerful empire, you need to have a reliable city that has access to all sorts of resources from basic needs to more practical items required for building and expanding.
Actively exploring will also give you more chances of running into new unclaimed territories that are fertile and in a strategic spot. You can also have lands that are hard to traverse or have as few access points for you to have a better defense system, keeping you safe from attacks.
Neolithic Era
When you first start the game, you begin in the Neolithic Era. Progressing through this Era will require you to complete certain objectives that earn you Era Stars, leading you to more modern but ancient era.
To earn Era Stars, you need to complete tasks and objectives. Tasks such as hunting animals, growing populations of people and units, and discovering scientific curiosities are all the best ways to earn Era Stars.
Select a Culture
As you progress and are ready to move forward from the Neolithic Era, you will now need to choose a culture. Once chosen, no other player can select the culture that you have chosen and vice versa.
With each Culture comes its Affinities, which are bonuses in your chosen culture where you can work on. Earning era Stars based around these affinities will reward you with Fame, an item that will decide your victory. Take advantage of your cultural strengths and use them to gain additional Fame. For example, if you have a Militarist culture, you can use your population number to invade a neighbor, gaining territories and more population in return.
Building a City
After you have chosen a culture in the Ancient Era, you can now upgrade your outpost into a city. Cities enable you to further grow your civilization by researching technologies, building more structures and districts, and making use of your resources whether they are luxury or strategic.
Choosing the placement of your city is also going to be vital for your survival. Having a good balance between food and industry will be the most ideal way for your city to thrive. Having said that, you also have to consider nearby regions and how resourceful they are. If you are far away from a new resourceful land, it will increase your costs.
