During last night’s Ubisoft Forward 2020, Ubisoft shared not only some brand details about its new battle royale game Hyper Scape but also announced that an open beta is now live for everyone to try out the game. Hyper Scape is a brand new battle royale game by Ubisoft that is free-to-play and offers fast-paced urban shooting experience. The game has been developed by Ubisoft Montreal and is set in the distant future of 2054 where up to 100 Contenders land on the virtual city of Neo-Arcadia and engage in action-packed and fast-paced matches to become the champion.
During the Open Beta of Hyper Scape, players will get access to Crown Rush Solo mode that is the basic 100 player free-for-all mode of the game. This comes alongside the previously available 3-player squad mode Crown Rush Squad. The Open Beta will also feature two new limited-time modes: Hack Runner Squad and Turbo Mode Squad. One brand new hack Shockwave and weapon Harpy are also part of the newly started Open Beta. These new additions join the roster of the previously available nine hacks and nine weapons of the Technical Test.
Hyper Scape Open Beta is also bringing with it some new streaming features for its Crowncast Twitch extension. With the new features, players will be able to progress in their Battle Pass by watching Hyper Scape live streams on Twitch and the ability for streamers to invite viewers directly into their squad from Twitch chat. These additions come alongside some of the previous Twitch features including Viewer Events where all Twitch viewers get the opportunity to have a real-time impact on a match by voting on events that affect all Contenders in the match. These included Low Gravity, Infinite Ammo, and much more. A new event Haste is now part of this feature which increases game speed for everyone.
A 30 tier battle pass is also part of the Hyper Scape Open Beta. An in-game shop with additional customization options is also live in the game now. If you are jumping in the Open Beta, you will be glad to know that all Open Beta progress and items will carry over through to the full release of the game whether they choose console or PC as their final platform. A full release for Hyper Scape is planned later for Summer 2020 across PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
The official press release describes Hyper Scape as:
Hyper Scape was designed from the ground up as an intense, vertical, and fast-paced battle royale experience with Twitch streamers in mind. Three-player squads and solo players can dive into the futuristic virtual city of Neo- Arcadia to engage in dynamic firefights, quickly transitioning from narrow streets to open rooftops and deadly interiors.
Hyper Scape introduces Hacks, abilities that players can loot in the world the same way they do weapons. Hacks grant offensive and defensive capabilities to suit all playstyles. Laying down a mine, seeking an enemy, protecting the squad with a big wall or turning invisible to sneak up on opponents are just a few examples of the Hacks players can combine and swap effortlessly. All Hacks and weapons can be upgraded through the Fusion mechanic to produce more powerful iterations of the pre-existing item.
Hyper Scape innovates and twists the battle royale formula in many ways, such as the unpredictable Decay which dissolves the map of Neo-Arcadia into different patterns, or the unique Echo mechanic that keeps players active in the battle even when they’re down. At the end of a Hyper Scape match, the climatic showdown phase starts when the Hyper Scape crown spawns on the map. Players have two different ways to claim victory, either by picking up and carrying the crown for 45 seconds or by being the last player or squad standing.
