Superbright has just released the In Death: Unchained update which is the game’s most important update bringing in new seasonal events, new player levels, and new maps in the VR game.

The update is now live as it also marks the beginning of Season 2 in the game. In the new seasonal format, each season will conclude by converting player scores into Legend Points and Player Levels, while also rewarding with Unlockable Skins.

Every new season, the leaderboard is reset but your achievements, progress, and saves will be retained between seasons.

CEO of Superbright, Wojtek Podgorski had this to say,

We hope the seasonal format will help keep the game fresh, allow us to make balance adjustments while keeping the game fair, and reward the game’s original legends while giving new players their chance at glory.

In addition the Legends Points. Player Levels that give you unlockable skins, the update also introduces Badges. These are rewards that unlock when a player reaches a high rank during the course of a season.

Moving on to new maps, the game’s beginner friendly Siege of Heaven mode gets its Chapter II maps, each with its own unique mechanic that will bring a twist to the fun alternative game mode. The game mode also got a graphical overhaul with new volumetric fog effects, updated geometry, and lighting. In addition, the update brings in 14 new achievements to the main loop, difficulty adjustment to higher loops in the main game mode of In Death: Changed.

If you are unaware of In Death: Unchained, it brings the rogue-lite experience to the Oculus Quest. Grab your longbow and rain down arrows against the forsaken souls, angelic creatures and demons that have taken over the godless afterlife as you battle through the procedurally generated levels of Heaven, Purgatory and Hell.

Because In Death: Unchained is a rogue-lite, it means that death will be permanent for your character. However, you do not lose everything as special abilities and modifiers carry over to your next run in the game. The game also follows an achievement system to mark its progression. As you unlock more and more achievements, the game will scale the difficulty level of the game to ensure that you get a good challenge on every level.
