Insomniac is famous for many exclusive games since early 90s, the latest being Marvel’s Spider-Man. Insomniac through out the time are well known for games such as Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, Disruptor and Sunset Overdrive.
Insomniac after the huge success of Marvel’s Spider-Man have remained silent on their next project. However, CEO Ted Price have hinted at an upcoming possible sequel as next project for Insomniac.
Sunset Overdrive was praised a lot back when it released exclusively on Xbox One platform in 2014. However, till now, Insomniac have been mum on any subject that may hint a possible sequel of the game. Ted Price recently said that:
When you establish an IP, you now know what the tone is, you know what the character is, you know what the core mechanics are that work. You know what players liked and didn’t like, so doing a sequel for any game, be it Sunset Overdrive or something else, is an opportunity to deliver something to fans that’s significantly better than the original, and that’s something that I think we at Insomniac would love to do someday
From his hints, we can possible speculate that Insomniac will work on Sunset Overdrive 2 first than maybe, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? Well, its a long shot. We will have to wait till the news is announced officially.
He also said:
feel like there are a lot of people out there who love Sunset, and we’ve certainly been asked, frequently, by fans
These hints point clearly that developers at Insomniac have listened Sunset Overdrive fans since years. We could potentially see a teaser in E3 2019 or maybe a gameplay.
Marvel’s Spider-Man sequel will take another year or two to get announced. The game will start DLCs starting from next month. The DLCs are scheduled to release on monthly basis. So Spider-man fans will be hooked to game till this December.
