Chanko Studios and AMC Games have announced that their upcoming title It’s A Wrap has been selected for the 2022 PAX Rising Showcase. Right after its debut at the BitSummit in Kyoto, It’s A Wrap! is now heading to Seattle where the game will be showcased alongside an intensely curated collection of twelve indie games. All of the selections for the showcase have been made by the PAX team.
Chanko Games and AMC Games released the very first official trailer for It’s A Wrap! last week and showcased a playable demo of the game at the BitSummit. At the event, the studio also won the Excellence in Game Design Awards and IGN Japan’s Media Highlight Award. After its successful event in Kyoto, the game is now ready to head over to Seattle and win the hearts of people there as well at the PAX Rising show floor.
It’s A Wrap! is a 2D puzzle platformer that is a love letter to the 80s cinema. The game puts you in charge of a movie where you step in the shoes of the director and the main actor. You direct and star in low-budget Hollywood films where things on the set never go according to plan. The game has two main phases where in one phase, you will be the director of the movie and must skillfully maneuver the timing of actors, props, and special effects with a unique ‘timeline editing’ interface.
The main puzzle of each level is figuring out how to set up the perfect take before the action begins. Once this phase is over, you move on to the second phase of the game where the cameras start rolling and you become the film star Johnny Rush and guide him through calamitous platforming runs and epic vehicular stunts. While doing so, you also need to make sure to keep Johnny alive and in one piece. You will fail a lot in the game however movie magic is a thing, and it allows you to rewind and reshoot until you are ready to wrap up the scene.
