JDM: Rise of the Scorpion Prologue Delayed for Enhanced Quality

JDM: Rise of the Scorpion Prologue

Gaming Factory and 4Divinity have announced a delay in the release of the prologue for its upcoming drifting title JDM: Rise of the Scorpion. The prologue introduces you to the narrative aspect of the game, following the story of Hatori Hasashi and his journey to becoming the “Scorpion.” Hatori, an exemplary student from a traditional Japanese family, brings his pride and arrogance to the racetrack, facing various rivals along the way.

The first official gameplay from the JDM prologue has been revealed, showcasing new features and elements introduced since the demo. Along with the launch delay announcement trailer, the developers have shared additional gameplay trailers as well. We have linked all three videos below for you:

Based on player feedback, the developers have incorporated a multifunctional smartphone feature. In the open world, you can use the smartphone to view messages from NPCs, check the status of active missions, review previously completed missions, change wallpapers, and more. This addition aims to enhance the immersive experience and provide you with more control over their in-game activities.

The prologue introduces several new events where you can face AI opponents on the track:

  • Drift Race: Earn points by drifting through tight turns and corners.
  • Drift Battle: Engage in a chase, putting distance between two cars.
  • Grip Race: Speed up and be the first to cross the finish line.

The story of JDM: Japanese Drift Master is set in the fictional Japanese prefecture of Guntama, inspired by the mountainous region of Honshu. The game’s open map features racetracks and areas that resemble real-world drifting routes, creating a dynamic and diverse environment. In the prologue, you will explore only a part of the world prepared for the full version of the game.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master offers a unique storytelling approach without typical cutscenes. Instead, hand-drawn manga pages featuring the protagonists bring the characters to life. The game’s narrative focuses on racing events that drive the story forward. You will meet an ensemble of side characters who play important roles in Hatori’s rise as the Scorpion:

  • Aoi Ishida: A girl from a traditional family who has known Hatori since childhood and supports him on the track.
  • Ayumi Kurama: A rich girl whose friendship with Hatori may be at risk if victory is at stake.
  • Satoru Hayashi: Hatori’s main rival, cheerful and reckless, driving a car that belonged to his famous drifter uncle.
  • Kaori Kato: Aoi’s best friend who works at a paint shop and always supports Aoi, even if she doubts Hatori’s suitability as a boyfriend.

You can test several new cars at the Car Dealer, unlocking their full potential with upgrades. These cars, fast like a scorpion’s attack, can be raced through the city’s narrow streets and the mountains’ winding roads.

The open world map of the prologue features new and challenging areas, including the winding mountain roads around Haikama Lake and the Tengai Forest. These locations provide ideal environments for practicing and refining driving skills. The dynamic weather system and day-night cycle add to the realism and freshness of the racing experience.

JDM: Rise of the Scorpion Prologue will now be released on August 8, 2024.
