Texas-based developer Garrick Campsey has announced that his brand new project LAZR – A Clothformer is now live on Kickstarter and the campaign is now underway. Garrick’s previous projects include Astro4X and now he is working on a brand new 2.5D platformer which is enhanced by deep physics simulations. The game is set in a vivid, thriving neon cyberpunk dystopia which is heavily inspired by Akira, Judge Dredd, and Bladerunner.
Garrick earlier showcased the game’s physics in a tweet which went viral and since then the development on the game had been pretty consistent. The developer has been working on the game alongside the player community to meticulously craft a finely tuned game which is great for players who prefer speedrunning or player achievement hunting. The title’s Steam page is already live and you can head over there and add the game to your Wishlist.
The main goal of the Kickstarter campaign for LAZR is to gather $10,000 to fund the development of the title. Along with this, there are also some additional stretch goals included in the mix for some extra content. The estimated gameplay length for the title should be around 6-9 hours and the developer has managed to secure multiple language versions including English, Chinese, Japanese and French. More will be added later.
Key features of LAZR include:
- Unique, one of a kind, dynamic Platforming Physics – cloth, fire, and weather effects
- Hundreds of levels to play, including extra challenge levels and training courses
- Hero customization – different shell modifications allow the player to tailor the hero’s abilities as they see fit – from fully auto laser fire to more acrobatic shells.
- Choices that deeply affect the protagonist’s journey and the city around them, with multiple endings
- Highly polished and responsive input, with timed levels designed for speedrunning
- Vibrant neon retro pixel art and animations, combined with pre-rendered 3D, describe a futuristic dystopia where both AI and humans live in a dangerous balance
Spent some more time optimizing the demo's cloth sims. Now I can fill an entire level with cloth and maintain 60fps, with complete destruction. Exciting! #monogame #indiegame #gamedev #indiegame pic.twitter.com/DiF3XywSjI
