Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga Beginner’s Guide

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga is the latest title in the Lego series of games, and while it isn’t a tricky game for any beginner, it does come with some changes that are better managed if you know how things work. This Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga Beginner’s Guide will show you all the things you should be looking out for in the game, and how you can best use the game’s features to their potential.

The latest version of the game comes with a slight change in combat, several characters with unique skills that are not only helpful against enemies, but also required in puzzles, and plenty of areas to explore and items to collect.

Understanding Combat

The combat system comes with more depth this time around in the Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, where enemies will respond to your attacking pattern, forcing you to look for other attacking options other than just mashing the one attack button. From aerial attacks to combos and switching to another character, the combat mechanic is more focused on melee, where you will need to mix and experiment with your attacks.

If you just focus on attacking an enemy by hitting one button on your controller, they will start blocking your attack and look to counter. This can leave you open and vulnerable to attacks. What you should do instead is to start a combo, and then mix up your attacks by either going for a heavy, or an acrobatic attack.

Additionally, you can also hit weak spots on the enemy, starting with the head which is the weakest of them all.

While you can combat with a single character, Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga is best enjoyed when you switch to the other character in your roster, like Obi-Wan who will be conveniently standing in the best position where the enemy isn’t looking and comes with his own unique skills. Similarly, having more characters in your roster gets you more ways to attack with different abilities special to a character.

Add More Characters to Your Roster

As mentioned above, the more characters in your roster, the more fun the game gets. And while these characters will help you in combat, they are also required for puzzles that require more than just your wits.

Characters that use the Force will be required to solve the various puzzles that you will run into in the story. Puzzles that require moving out-of-reach objects can only be done so if you have a certain character that uses this ability.

Other characters help you unlock doors and break open barriers, while droids like C-3PO will help you talk to the alien NPCs.

Other than the characters that you unlock along the way, there are secret characters that can only be unlocked using codes. These codes can be input into your Holoprojector, in the Extras tab, which will then add each character to your roster, as explained in our Character Unlock Codes guide.

Get As Many Kyber Bricks As You Can

There are plenty of areas to explore and several items to pick and although this might get a bit overwhelming at first, you shouldn’t ignore these items. One such important item is the Kyber Bricks. These bricks help you unlock upgrades, but are a little rare when you have just started the game.

One such important skill that can be upgraded with Kyber Bricks is the Attract Studs. This skill automatically picks up any studs around you before they despawn, while also letting you focus on the game instead of running over each Stud to obtain it.

Studs can be found when you break everything in your sight, leaving no stones unturned. In each mission, you can destroy Lego blocks that will drop studs for you to collect. The best place you can get the most Kyber Bricks are space stations that have Kyber asteroids. Each Kyber Asteroid will drop five Kyber Bricks for you to add to your inventory.

Upgrade Wisely

This is very important as a beginner, mainly because of the limited amounts of Kyber Bricks you will have in the early hours of your gameplay. While you may be looking to unlock a skill that makes you more powerful, look towards upgrading skills that help you grow stronger quicker.

One such skill as mentioned before is the Attract Studs skill that picks up the dropped studs immediately for you. Other vital skills will also be required that are specifically made for a certain task like destroying Level 3 Vulture Droids.

There is Plenty to Explore

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga is also about exploration and the true art that the game presents for the players. There are several areas, with different treasures waiting for you to collect them.

While it is important to focus on the story and progress in it, you shouldn’t sleep on exploring and running into a very important item that you might need later in the game.
