Lost Turnip Unveils Run From Mummies – An Action-Packed Vacation Gone Wrong

Run From Mummies

Developer and publisher Lost Turnip has announced its latest 2D action-adventure title Run From Mummies. Run From Mummies promises to turn a dream vacation into a pulse-pounding race for survival. Set to launch later this year on Steam and PS5, Run From Mummies plunges you into a chaotic scenario where an ill-fated tour group accidentally awakens an ancient pharaoh and his legion of mummified followers.

The game kicks off with a bus crash that quickly escalates into a nightmare as you find yourself trapped within perilous pyramids. Armed with nothing but a camera, the tourists must navigate through treacherous tombs, using the camera’s flash to stun mummies, activate traps, and solve puzzles—all while racing against time to escape. Unlike traditional action games where enemies can be defeated, Run From Mummies raises the stakes by introducing mummies that can’t always be killed, forcing you to rely on quick thinking and strategic use of their camera to survive.

As you progress through the game, you will traverse seven distinct regions, each offering its own set of challenges, enemies, and formidable boss battles. The diverse environments keep the gameplay fresh and engaging, requiring you to adapt their strategies to overcome the unique obstacles that each region presents.

Run From Mummies also blends humor and action. You can choose from a roster of quirky tourists, each with special abilities that cater to different playstyles. This adds a layer of strategy, as you must select the right character to tackle the various challenges they encounter. Additionally, the game offers a chaotic multiplayer mode where up to three friends can join forces locally or through Steam Remote Play Together, amplifying the fun and mayhem.

The game is rich in narrative and exploration, with over 30 hand-drawn cutscenes that inject humor and depth into the story. You will uncover ancient secrets through backstory sequences and codex entries, and those who are thorough in their exploration can find hidden items and secrets in each level for extra rewards. Run From Mummies also includes various challenges and mini-games that add replayability and provide a break from the intense action.

Run From Mummies is slated for a Q4 2024 release and a Steam page is currently live for the game. If you are interested in playing it when it comes out, you can head over there and add it to your wishlist right now. A free demo is also available if you want to try it out without any commitment.
