hulk will be a tank William, one of his special abilities is taunting to keep enemies on him, and his other ability, rage, heals him. he is totally a tank. Since missions allow you to have 4 people, you will be relying on others to do damage. hulks job is to keep stuff on him. not every character is about doing damage, all the other characters are mainly dps.
This is incorrect. Hulk does not work best as a defensive character, he is all about being offensive with his hard hitting melee attacks. That is why Might is the main thing you should focus on him to make him a powerful melee damage dealer, which makes sense since that is the role he has always fulfilled in comics and any other media.
