Publisher Funcom has announced the upcoming release of Metal: Hellsinger VR, the highly anticipated VR version of the heavy metal rhythm shooter developed by Lab42 Games. The game is set to launch in the Fall of 2024 on Meta Quest 2 & 3, Meta Quest Pro, and PS VR 2. Fans eager to dive into the action can now try a brand-new demo available on Steam.
The demo introduces players to an immersive new lobby, a visually striking location where they can select their level, music, loadout, and more. It features Voke and Stygia, the first two missions of the game, and showcases four powerful weapons: Paz, a fiery skull companion; Terminus, an agile sword; The Hounds, demonic twin pistols; and Persephone, a thunderous shotgun.

As part of the UploadVR Showcase, the demo release was announced by none other than Matt Heafy, the guitarist and lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Trivium, in a new promotional video. This demo allows players to freely aim all weapons in full VR, syncing their shots to the pulsating beats of the game’s intense soundtrack. Players can even throw the sign of the horns before blasting enemies away, adding to the immersive metal experience.
Each weapon in Metal: Hellsinger VR comes with a unique ultimate ability that unleashes devastating effects on enemies. Terminus, for example, delivers rapid double-time tempo slashes, while Paz can strike foes with stunning lightning. These ultimate abilities add layers of strategy and excitement to the frenetic gameplay.
Players can currently jump into Hell on Steam and battle hordes of demons to the rhythm of an award-winning soundtrack composed by the talented duo Two Feathers. The soundtrack features performances by metal legends such as Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Matt Heafy of Trivium, and Alissa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy. The music intensifies the gameplay, pulling players into a state of frenzied demon-slaying flow that is both thrilling and immersive.
Funcom and Lab42 Games have meticulously crafted Metal: Hellsinger VR to deliver an unparalleled virtual reality experience. The combination of rhythm-based shooting mechanics and the heavy metal soundtrack creates a unique and exhilarating gaming experience. The demo offers just a taste of what’s to come, but it’s enough to get players’ blood pumping and their fingers itching for more.
With its full release set for Fall 2024, Metal: Hellsinger VR promises to push the boundaries of VR gaming, providing fans with a high-octane, rhythm-fueled adventure through the depths of Hell.
