In a tweet, the official Metro Exodus account has revealed that there will be no Metro Exodus pre-load on Epic Games Store. The initial tweet was to announce that all Steam users will be able to pre-load their game however when one user asked about pre-load on Epic Games Store, the response was in negative.
This is very strange because recently Metro Exodus was pulled from Steam and was moved to Epic Games Store. All pre-orders were made on Steam before this decision by Deep Silver and the publisher announced that all pre-orders on Steam will be honored and the game will be delivered to them on Steam.
This recent announcement is very strange in the terms that since Metro Exodus is now primarily available on Epic Games Store, fans of the game will not be able to download the game early and jump right in the game when it comes out. Players will need to wait for the game to actually release before they can start the download.
You can check out the official tweets below.
Just to confirm – Metro Exodus pre-load for existing Steam pre-order customers WILL HAPPEN, and we will announce expected start time in due course.

At this time, pre-loading is common for every big release. The primary reason behind is the game’s large size. Game size has immensely increased in this generation so the developers give the option to pre-load the game before its release which saves some time before digital buyers can jump in the game.
Pre-loading is most beneficial for people with slow internet who download a moderate sized game in 2 or 3 days so pre-loading greatly benefits them. Both PS4 and Xbox One versions of Metro Exodus can be pre-loaded. Even Steam version allows pre-loading. The only platform which does not come with pre-loading is Epic Games Store.
This is going to make fans even more angry now as they were already angry about the initial move from Steam to Epic Games Store. Metro Exodus is sized at around 50GB so the download can take a day or even two or three for people with slower internets.
Metro Exodus is releasing on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Epic Games Store on February 22, 2019.
