Microsoft Announces Original Crackdown Free For a Limited Time – Play via Backwards Compatible Feature on Xbox One

Here at XO18 event, Microsoft has announced that the original Crackdown game will become free to play starting from today. The offer runs till November 30, after that you will need to buy the game to play it.

Those of you who have Xbox One and never played the original Crackdown on Xbox 360, you can play it on your Xbox One via backwards compatible.

Crackdown is action adventure and open world game. The game was developed by Realtime Worlds and released exclusively on Microsoft Xbox 360 console. The game initially released in North America on February 20, 2007 and Feb. 23 worldwide.

The idea of Crackdown game and its environment was concieved by David Jones. He is founder of Realtime Worlds and also created Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings.

The original Crackdown is set in a fictional city called Pacific city. The main protagonist of the game is biologically enhanced agent. He is tasked to take down three crime lords and their organised crime syndicate that has paralyzed the Pacific city.

You can upgrade or improve the agent’s abilities by defeating the crime lords and their supporters. If you are bored of doing only story missions, then side activities will also serve you in upgrading your character.

Side activities are pretty refreshing actually. There are street races and scavenger hunts for you to complete.

The game also features two player coop play. It does not support local play but if you are on Xbox Live, you can team up with a friend and stop crime syndicate together.

The game was initially planned to release on original Xbox console but that could not happen. Crackdown released in July 2010. Now, Crackdown 3 is said to release in February 2019.
