The monster taming game Monster Crown developed by one man Jason Walsh and publisher SOEDESCO is launching into Early Access on Steam today. Monster Crown started its life as a dream in the late 90s and now the game is finally nearing its completion as Early Access is the first step towards a successful launch. The game has been inspired by classics such as Dragon Warrior Monster 2, Keitaj Denju Telefan, and the first two generations of Pokemon.
Monster Crown features a dark story that dives into the good and evil of the human race and reveals a lot of the developer’s inner self. To become a competitive battler in Monster Crown, you must find, tame, and breed your very own perfect monster. You start your journey on the Crown Island where you have more than 200 base monsters roaming in the wild. Monsters rule the island and you must form pacts with these monsters to get them on your side.
Once you have the monsters on your side, you can further breed them to create new offsprings that are a true mix of both parents. Each new specie in the game is unique and features unique appearance, moves, stats, and learnable moves. You can breed as many monsters as you like by finding and mixing and matching together different species of monsters to create as unique monsters as possible in the game. Check out the early access trailer below:
Key features of Monster Crown include:
- Make pacts with monsters to receive their protection in return for shelter.
- Breed and fuse over 200 base monsters to create your own new species.
- Travel across Crown Island with your monster allies to uncover a dark world.
- Make a pivotal decision that will drastically change the ending and post-game.
- Play online to battle and trade, and have your new species reach across the globe.
We previewed an Early Access version of Monster Crown back in June and we absolutely loved the nostalgic return to the classic Gameboy era. The game plays brilliantly and offers hours upon hours of fun with its neat Breeding mechanic and trainer battles. You can jump in the Early Access release of the game right now as well on Steam.
