Check out the gameplay trailer below.

As you can see that the developers have really kicked up a notch when it comes to gore and we love it. Flying eyes, cracked skulls and disembarked limbs are the trademarks of the Mortal Kombat franchise and Mortal Kombat 11 is certainly not lacking in that department. As a bonus, NetherRealm brought a long a special fatality only video. You can check it out below.

Characters

At this point, seven characters are confirmed to be in the game. These are

  • Sonya Blade
  • Baraka
  • Sub-Zero
  • Raiden (Dark Raiden)
  • Scorpion
  • Geras
  • Skarlet
  • Shao Khan (Pre-Order Exclusive)

Skarlet is making a comeback from Mortal Kombat 9 upon fan requests and Geras is a brand new character coming in Mortal Kombat 9. We also know that Raiden has gone berserk and in the upcoming title, Dark Raiden will be featured. We do not currently know whether his normal (good) form will be included in the game or not.

Earlier it was reported that Sonya Khan is being played by Ronda Rousey and today at the event it was proved right when Ronda Rousey herself appeared on the stage to make the announcement. Ronda Rousy is an MMA fighter so she suits Sonya Blade’s character perfectly in the game.

Check out her trailer below.

Geras is a brand new character and he comes with his own unique reveal trailer. Check it out below.

Apart from this, each fighter in Mortal Kombat 11 is fully customization. The demo shown at the reveal event showcased Scorpion and he had tons of options such as masks, weapons, costume pieces, intros and skins. This will allow players to create their favorite variation of each fighter in the game.

New Gameplay Mechanics

Players now have two bars instead of a single one. One bar is used for offense while the second one is for defense. The Offence bar once full can be used to unleash special Fatal Blows which are much more powerful attacks but not fatal.

The defense bar will allow players to use different defensive tactics and moves such as the new Perfect Block move which allow players to guard an attack and instantly follow it with a massive combo of their choice.

Story

Mortal Kombat 11 will come with a full fledge story which picks up right where the story of Mortal Kombat 9 ended. The story trailer shows Dark Raiden in action and his future plans. Dark Raiden kills Shinook and then a new character by the name of Kronika appears who has the ability to alter time. Check out the trailer below.
