Mortal Kombat Movie is being worked on right now. Greg Russo has teased fans about the cast and all the characters that will be in the movie. He mentioned that Mortal Kombat has 70 characters and not all of them can get their separate movies.
Russo mentioned that Mortal Kombat Movie will be live Avengers and all the characters will be in the same movie, rather than dividing the different characters in individual movies and then bringing them all together. Here is what Russo had to say regarding the Mortal Kombat Movie:
One of the trickiest things I think with adapting the properties are there are so many characters, right. I mean there are, I think there’s 70 something characters in this and we don’t have the ability to stagger these films like the MCU does, right? We can’t do a Sonya movie and then do a Liu Kang movie. So we’re forced right into Avengers mode off the bat.
Russo also mentioned that he and the team are concentrating on this movie for now and are not thinking about future prospects. He mentioned that once this one is the best it can be then he will think about something else. This could mean that more movies are planned but nothing is for sure right now.
Cramming every character into one movie does not make sense that is why I am sure that 70 characters are not going to be in the first movie. Russo did mention that we will see a lot of familiar faces in the movie. Here is what he had to say regarding selecting the characters for the Mortal Kombat Movie:
If we’re going to put characters into this, we want to make sure that they had a chance to really be developed, that they’re fleshed out, and that they play a real role in the story. So that’s kind of, in terms of the characters, that was, in terms of the actual choosing of the characters, it’s just gonna be a lot of familiar faces for sure.
It has been confirmed that the upcoming movies will not shy away from the gory fatalities. That should be very interesting to see on the big screen. For that reason, the movie is going to have an R rating.
The Mortal Kombat movie is supposed to release on March 5, 2021. We have a lot of time before now and then so plenty could change in that period of time. For more news and information stay tuned.
