Cold Symmetry and Playstack revealed their brand new soulslike game, Mortal Shell, last month and we absolutely loved it. Although the reveal trailer showed us a little bit of in-game gameplay, we are still looking forward to a fully-fledged gameplay reveal. Luckily, we do not have to wait much longer to see Mortal Shell in action as a full gameplay reveal is coming on June 5, 2020.
Mortal Shell will be part of IGN’s upcoming Summer of Gaming during which its gameplay will be premiered for the very first time. Apart from this, the developer is also promising more information during the upcoming 2020 Summer of Digital Showcases. After the initial gameplay reveal on June 5, 2020, we will get to see even more sneak peeks in the days that follow the reveal.
Mortal Shell was originally called Dungeonhaven during its early development days however the game was later rebranded as Mortal Shell. The game is being developed by some of the best veteran developers who are credited with working on some of the best AAA titles. The core development team behind Mortal Shell comprises just 15 people and the game has been made possible by the team’s pedigree and burning desire to master the genre aced by Dark Souls.
The three co-founders of the studio Andrew McLennan-Murray, Anton Gonzalez, and Vitaly Bulgarov, commented in a joint statement:
For a small team like ours, developing this title in many ways felt like crossing an ocean on a paddle board. To finally announce Mortal Shell is one of the most exciting and terrifying experiences we’ve had in our lifetimes. The last two years have been a time of non-stop growth, full of shocking revelations of sheer complexity that goes into creating a video game that you, yourself, would really enjoy playing.
