Developer ChaoticBrain Studios and publisher Meridiem have announced that their neo-noir cyberpunk RPG, Neon Blood will be playable at gamescom 2024. From August 21 to August 25, attendees will have the opportunity to experience hands-on gameplay at the Indie Arena Games for Spain in Hall 10.2. Set in a neo-noir cyberpunk work, Neon Blood blends RPG mechanics and graphic adventure storytelling. Check out the latest gameplay trailer to see the game in action:
Neon Blood is set in a dystopian future, the year 2053, after the devastating Third World War has left humanity confined to a single massive metropolis, Viridis. This city is sharply divided into two contrasting areas: the opulent Bright City and the bleak, poverty-stricken Blind City. Players take on the role of Axel McCoin, a determined detective from Blind City, driven by his ideals to fight against the deep social inequalities that plague Viridis. His journey to challenge the injustices of this divided society will see him gather powerful allies and confront formidable enemies, including the cunning Ruby Emerald, who is determined to thwart Axel’s revolutionary plans.
The game’s aesthetic is a standout feature, combining 2D PixelArt sprites with 3D-modeled environments to create a striking 2.5D visual experience. Players can expect a variety of puzzles and classic turn-based combat, enhanced by precise Quick Time Events that add an extra layer of engagement to the gameplay. The richly detailed world of Neon Blood invites players to immerse themselves in its dark, cyberpunk narrative while navigating the moral complexities of Axel’s mission.
In addition to the gameplay reveal at gamescom, Meridiem has announced the upcoming release of a physical Limited Edition of Neon Blood. Scheduled for Q4 2024, this edition will be available for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in specialist stores. The Limited Edition will feature a metallic textured sleeve, an art book, a city guide, and a downloadable soundtrack, offering fans a chance to own a piece of the game’s unique world.
