According to recent development, it turns out that this year’s Call of Duty is called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This was initially revealed by LongSensation and was later confirmed by Kotaku so we are pretty sure that this is going to be a solid leak for this year’s Call of Duty.
This news actually came from the YouTuber LongSensation who tweeted that the next Call of Duty is called ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’. Despite sharing the title with the first game in the franchise, this is the fourth game in the franchise and for some reason, the developers have decided to name the game simply Modern Warfare.
Activision has already shown the next title in the franchise to a few select influencers and YouTubers. Earlier we also got to know some the developer has also shown the game to some NFL players however nothing was revealed later. However, now we have the first leak of the 2019 Call of Duty that it will be called Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 4 or Black Ops 5 are now out of question.
I can confirm this is true, and that it's hilarious. The first one was "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" so obviously the fourth one is "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare." Video games are absurd https://t.co/Ghb1m2srC4

Further down the comments, Jason stated that it is a soft reboot for the franchise when a fan asked whether the developer is treating it as a franchise reboot.

Recently, it was also announced that Sledgehammer and Raven are no longer working on 2019’s Call of Duty and it is now under Treyarch who recently developed and released Black Ops 4. This was the very reason why everyone was hoping that the next title would be named Black Ops 5 now however it turns out, it is still Modern Warfare, just not the number that we thought it would be.
At this point, any further details are not known however Eurogamer suggests that an official release is dropping on May 30, 2019. What do you want to see in the new Call of Duty? Let us know in the comments section below.
