The iPod Touch 2019 has just been announced. The product has been refreshed after 4 years and one of the major features is that it is powered by the A10 Fusion chip, which offers much better gaming performance as well as AR support. The base model costs $199 and comes with 32GB of memory but there are 128GB and 256GB versions as well.
The 256GB iPod Touch 2019 is going to cost $399. Gaming seems to be a major feature that Apple is pushing from what we have seen in the marketing material. The following is what Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Product Marketing had to say about the device:
We’re making the most affordable iOS device even better with performance that is twice as fast as before, Group FaceTime and augmented reality starting at just $199. The ultra-thin and lightweight design of iPod touch has always made it ideal for enjoying games, music and so much more wherever you go.
This is a new Apple product but I have to say that the design does look dated. This looks like a smartphone that came out back in 2015. I know that it is going to be super thin but just look at the chin and all that space on the top. With devices like the Samsung S10 that can pull off everything from gaming to video calls while keeping the bezels ultra slim, one would wonder who this product is marketed at.
The only highlight that I see is that Apple has included the headphone jack, unlike other products that no longer have it. At the end of the day, this is an Apple product and I am sure that it is going to be off the shelf as soon as it hits stores. Let see what people have to say about the device.
While we are talking about Apple, the heart rate monitor on the Apple Watch is not as accurate as Apple would have you believe.
Let us know what you think about the iPod Touch 2019 and whether or not this is something that you are interested in getting.
