24Frame is thrilled to announce the arrival of a new four-legged hero in the popular top-down shooter, Metal Dogs. The latest downloadable content, titled “METAL DOGS EX DOG 01: Labrador Retriever,” introduces players to a lovable yet formidable new companion. This DLC is available now, adding an exciting layer to the post-apocalyptic canine adventure.
Metal Dogs is a unique spin-off of the critically acclaimed desert-punk JRPG series, Metal Max. Unlike its predecessors, Metal Dogs features adorable canine protagonists, including the beloved character “Pochi” from the original series. Despite their cute appearance, these dogs are equipped with serious firepower, navigating through the game’s devastated wasteland with agility and precision.
All the canine characters in Metal Dogs are brought to life by the talented voice actor Hiro Shimano, renowned for his roles in popular anime such as Connie in Attack on Titan, Zenitsu in Demon Slayer, Dabi in My Hero Academia, and Rindo Haitani in Tokyo Revengers.
The new DLC introduces “Zoe,” a Labrador Retriever named after the Greek word for “Life.” Zoe brings unique abilities to the game, including an HP buff that sets her apart from other breeds. Players who purchase the DLC can control Zoe and utilize her special weapon, the “Lovely Burst,” which is exclusive to her. This new addition is set to enrich the gameplay experience, offering fresh strategies and dynamic combat options.
Set in post-apocalyptic Japan, Metal Dogs follows the journey of Pochi, a dog revived by the enigmatic scientist Dr. Minch. Pochi embarks on a perilous mission through monster-infested dungeons to find his missing master. The game features eye-catching battle scenes inspired by the original Metal Max games, with dungeons that change every time you enter, ensuring new challenges and opportunities for discovering weapons.
The game’s addictive gameplay involves battling through hordes of monsters with easy-to-master controls. In response to community feedback during the Early Access period, Metal Dogs now includes a Hardcore Mode for the most daring players. This mode challenges players to clear the game without taking a single hit, with additional restrictions like limited ammunition and losing equipment upon death. For those seeking an even greater challenge beyond the normal mode, Hardcore Mode promises an intense and rewarding experience.
