The Mortal Kombat movie reboot has been confirmed and the people behind it have started giving out details. This is going to be the first Mortal Kombat movie that features gory fatalities, similar to what we have seen in the game.
Mortal Kombat’s screenwriter, Greg Russo mentioned that the movie is R rated and you can expect to see plenty of violence and gore. Here is what he had to say about the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot:
Since it’s already been stated by other members of the team, I’m gonna put this one to bed. MK WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen (and no I’m not gonna say which ones) You’ll just have to wait for the movie & see.
The original movie was released back in 1995 and this new will is aimed to be a reboot. You can expect to see some changed made to the MK universe and it surely will be very interesting indeed. Every gamer remembers the iconic soundtrack and it will be interesting to see whether the reboot pays tribute to it.
A couple of Mortal Kombat movies were released after the first one but none of them were any good. Hence the need for rebooting the franchise. The movie has been in the works for a while now and has been delayed time and time again. Back in February Greg Russo confirmed that the script is ready. This means that actual progress is being made now and you can expect to see something in the upcoming months.
The movie is a collaboration between New Line Cinema (the holder of Mortal Kombat’s rights) and Warner Brothers (the current holder of the franchise’s rights). These are pretty big names and I hope this upcoming Mortal Kombat movie reboot is worth all the wait. Fans have been waiting for a while now so the expectations are pretty high at this point.
