New WRC 8 Videos Detail the Level Design and All-New Game Physics

WRC 8 is right around the corner and to make sure that fans of the franchise are all hyped up for the release, Bigben and KT Racing have released two new videos about the game. The brand new developer diaries share the amazing details behind the level design for WRC 8 along with all-new physics implemented in the game.

KT Racing’s Art Director, Amaury Beyris and Physics Designer, Jeremy Lolieux share some inside details on how the levels were created for WRC 8 along with the new physics that WRC 8 is arriving with. Starting with the level design first, Amaury Beyris details all the steps required for creating a rally in WRC 8.

Amaury shares that to create the most authentic rally experience in a game, it is vital to reference the database to achieve a 1:1 scale to recreating landmarks. Each detail is crucial for reproducing the most authentic look of rallies and special stages. WRC 8 comes with unique terrain features and weather conditions of each country which further increases player immersion and alters the driving during extreme conditions as well.

The second video focuses on the brand-new physics system that WRC 8 features. WRC 8 team collaborated with Citroen Racing engineers and rally drivers which helped them redesign and refine the physics engine for nearly all aspects of driving. Major overhauled components include the suspension, tire behavior, turbo, transmission, and engine. This helped the developer to create a more predictable driving experience to deliver an ultra-realistic rally driving experience for the players.

WRC 8 is aiming to be the most complete and authentic official WRC simulation game ever made. It brings all-new off-road physics which is well explained in the video above along with a brand new career mode which is new for the franchise. It also features extreme and dynamic weather conditions along with a hefty roster of 52 teams, 14 countries, and more than 100 special stages.

WRC 8 will be released on September 5, 2019, on PC, Xbox One, and PC. The Nintendo Switch version will arrive later in November 2019.
