Nindies Showcase Spring 2019

Nintendo just held the first Nindies Showcase for Nintendo Switch of 2019 and just like previous Nindies presentations, we got to see a lot of cool incoming indie titles for Spring 2019 and beyond. Nintendo announced 18 indie games heading to Nintendo Switch in Spring 2019 and beyond. Along with new titles, Nintendo also announced about a big Indie Sale starting today on different Indie titles on the Nintendo eStore.

If you missed the livestream, then you can catch up quickly as we have collected everything announced in today Nindies Showcase and detailed it below. This is the Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase Spring 2019 recap.

Cuphead

Nintendo started strong by announcing that Xbox One and PC exclusive Cuphead is coming to Nintendo Switch. Cuphead was released back in 2017 and it was highly praised due to its unique visuals and hard boss battles. Pre-purchase is now open on Nintendo eStore and you can head to the store right now and purchase Cuphead and jump in the game when it comes out on April 18, 2019.

Overland

Overland is a new take on the end of the world narrative from the creator of Cannonbolt, Adam Saltzman. The visuals in the game are by the hands of Heather Penn and the haunting soundtrack featured in the game is by Jocelyn Rays.

Overland is a turn-based squad focused strategy game in which you will need to choose the right option and survive for as long as possible as you travel across the US with your friends in a procedurally generated world. Overland is slated for release in Fall 2019.

My Friend Pedro

My Friend Pedro is a unique game where you play as a man guided by a banana called Pedro who is excellent at slowing down time and killing bad guys in style. You will need to use all of the man’s skills to battle the violent underworld of Old Town, District Null and more.

You will have access to a wide range of weapons and body moves to kill your enemies. You also have time on your side as you move around the level with time slowed down giving you enough time to kill all the enemies around you. My Friend Pedro is slated for release this June exclusively on Nintendo Switch.

Neo Cab

Neo Cab is an emotional survival game where you must fulfill your job as a rideshare driver. Your ultimate goal is to reunite with your best friend Savi who is wanted by an omnipresent mega-corporation called Capra.

You play as the last human taxi driver in a world overrun by automation. You will need to complete different fares on the streets of the fictional city called Los Ojos where you will need a wide variety of people. You will need to manage a lot of things in Neo Cab to ensure that you keep your job as well as find your friend. Neo Cab is releasing on Nintendo Switch in Summer 2019.

The Red Lantern

The Red Lantern is one of my favorite games from today’s presentation and I am really looking forward to playing it. In The Red Lantern, you play as a musher who is training for the difficult Iditarod Race with your pack of dogs and your own sled in Alaskan Wilderness. Your goal is to find your way home.

The Red Lantern combines rogue-like elements and story-driven adventure elements together for a perfect blend of an adventure survival experience. The game will present to you will hundreds of unique scenarios as you explore the beautiful Alaskan Wilderness. You will need to tend to your dogs, survive wild animal attacks, look for supplies and hunt to survive. Red Lantern is arriving on Nintendo Switch later in 2019.

Darkwood

Darkwood is a top-down horror game which will change your perspective on survival horror games. You will need to craft weapons, prepare traps and fortify your hideout to ensure that you survive until the next morning. You will also need to scavenge the forests by day and then make sure that you return to your hideout by night time.

You will face different nightmarish creatures and forces in the game which will make sure that you do not see the light of the other day. In encounters with these creatures, you will need to make sure that you are at the top of your crafting game and have everything you need to survive until the morning. Darkwood is releasing on Nintendo Switch in May 2019.

Katana Zero

In Katana Zero, you will jump in the shoes of a well-trained assassin called The Dragon. The Dragon can take out anything that stands in the way instantly. You can use a mysterious power and precognition to see the future and manipulate time as well.

You will need to watch out for your enemies though because just like you, they can eliminate you with a single hit. When you are done with a level, no breathing body is left behind. Katana Zero is arriving on Nintendo Switch on April 18, 2018. Pre-purchase is now open.

Rad

In Rad, you play as a child who has to kill demons in a procedurally-generated post-apocalyptic world. While doing so, the child can also adopt different mutations which come in handy while killing demons. Rad is being developed by Double Fine Productions. The title is slated to release in Summer 2019.

Creature in a Well

Creature in a Well is a very unique take on two genres. It is a pinball action adventure top-down game. The game takes place in a desert where a giant creature has trapped townsfolk in an eternal sandstorm. Players jump in the shoes of the last engineer who is tasked with powering up a giant weather machine and try to finish the job once and for all. Creature of the Well is coming out in Summer 2019.

Bloodroots

In Bloodroots, you play as Mr. Wolf who has been betrayed and the left for dead. Mr. Wolf finds himself vastly outnumbered and hell-bent on getting revenge on people who did him wrong. Mr. Wolf can use anything in the world as his weapon and the action gets pretty fast in this top-down action game. Bloodroots is coming out in Summer 2019.

Pine

Pine is an open world third-person action-adventure game where the world and your enemies are affected by the choices you make. The game features six different biomes which offer miles of terrain and five unique factions of creatures for you to interact with. Each faction of the creatures is fighting with each other to reach the top of the food chain.

You will need to scavenge, barter, harvest, craft and then sell items at the market to buy useful supplies from there which will help you prepare for your journey and will ensure your survival. Pine is releasing on Nintendo Switch in August 2019.

Super Crate Box

Super Crate Box is an arcade title in which you fight endless hordes of enemies. Players will be able to fight in different fast-paced multiplayer matches in the game. Multiplayer feature is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of the title and it is coming out in April 2019.

Nuclear Throne

Nuclear Throne is yet another arcade title which is an action roguelike title in which mutants fight each other for the throne. The game is set in a gritty post-apocalyptic world. Players can jump in the game solo or with a friend and try to become the ruler of the wasteland. Nuclear Throne is coming out today.

Ultra Bugs

Ultra Bugs is the first title in the Vlambeer Arcade which is a brand new collection of games for Nintendo Switch console. Vlambeer Arcade is a collection of bite-sized games which will continue to grow with time.

The first title is Ultra Bugs. It is a fast-paced, high-score centric title where players control a space ship and fight endless space bugs which split into smaller, multiple bugs when killed. Vlambeer Arcade with Ultra Bugs will arrive later this year on Nintendo Switch.

Swim Sanity

Swim Sanity is an underwater 2D shooter where you will have a wide variety of weapons at your disposal. Players can jump in co-op and vs. modes and engage in battle with other players using weapons and powerups. Swim Sanity features around 150 challenges which are spread across right game modes which include 5 vs. modes.

The game also features five entire worlds where players can battle across in adventure mode. The game will support both dual stick controls as well as motion aiming and players can easily pick their preferred mode of control. Swim Sanity is coming out on Nintendo Switch in Summer 2019.

Blaster Master Zero II

Blaster Master Zero II is the sequel to the original Blaster Master Zero. It is an action-adventure game where players take control of the tank G Sofia which is now equipped with Gaia system which allows players to harness SP by absorbing the energy of shocks such as enemy attacks or falling from heights. You also have access to different sub-weapons which can be powered up.

Along with G Sofia, Jason has also come new moves and tricks this time around. Jason can now counter enemy attacks with the Blast Counter. If you manage to time it right, you can chain it into multiple attacks and deal heavy damage to enemies. The second part is set in outer space and the game offers a lot more exploration than before. Blaster Master Zero II is coming out on Nintendo Switch today.

Stranger Things 3 – The Game

Stranger Things 3 – The Game is heading to Nintendo Switch. The game will feature all episodes of the season 3 of the show and players will be able to play each episode as their favorite characters. Players will solve mysteries, fight enemies and at the same time, try to reach the end of each level.

The game offers local co-op as players explore the town of Hawkins together and try to unearth different mysteries. It features 12 playable characters from the complete series so players can pick their favorite and jump in the game to play their favorite series moments. Strangers Things 3 – The Game will arrive on July 2018, which is the same time as that of the third season on Netflix.

Indie Title Sales

Nintendo also announced a big sale for the indie titles currently available on the Nintendo Switch eStore. Players can head to the store right now and avail great discounts on some of the best indie titles including Firewatch, Yoku’s Island Express, Inside, Horizon Chase Turbo, Night in the Woods and many more.

Cadence of Hyrule – Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda

Nintendo ended the stream with a surprise Zelda title but it is not a Zelda game that you will think of it to be. The name is a mouthful but the title is not. It a top-down 2D roguelike game that brings Link and Zelda to the world of indie game Crypt of the NecroDancer. Players will play as Link or Zelda in Hyrule this time around and kill enemies to collect loot. The game features randomly-generated levels and players will find many familiar weapons, items, and spells from both franchises. The game also features 25 remixes songs from the Zelda franchise. It arrives on Nintendo Switch in Spring 2019.
