Nioh 2 Bosses Guide

This Nioh 2 Bosses Guide will show you how to defeat all the main bosses that you will have to fight in the game. Each boss comes with their own special moves and requires a different strategy to defeat.

This guide will list each boss’s weaknesses and how you should prepare yourself with the items that will be needed in the battle.

Nioh 2 Bosses Guide

Below we have detailed each boss and how to defeat them.

Boss #1 – Mezuki

Mezuki is the first boss you will face in the game and is the demon with the horse head. This boss relies on long-ranged attacks, which means that you are best to fight up close with this boss. Anytime you give it space, it will be at an advantage.

Mezuki is also weak to water, which is why you should go into the fight with water talismans. When you begin the fight, Mezuki will swing at your location. Your target is to first dodge the attack and try to get as close to the boss as you can. One of its close-ranged attacks is where it tries to grab you. This can easily be dodged and give you a chance for your own attacks.

One of the attacks Mezuki has is when it charges at your location. This charge is first indicated by red, and then can be dodged. Mezuki will try to keep some distance from you to produce other attacks where it is good. Its medium-ranged attacks include three swings that go on either direction. You need to evade this attack and focus on missing most of its attacks, and to deplete its stamina.

Once Mezuki’s stamina is drained, you have the best opportunity to attack this vulnerable boss. Occasionally, Mezuki will go for its special attack after flashing red. In this attack, Mezuki will slam its weapon thrice on the ground. It also has a long-range attack where it sends shockwave on the ground after swinging the weapon.

Boss #2 – Enenra

Enenra is the second boss that you will face in the main story of the game. This boss is weak to water attacks, so you should have the water talismans equipped on your weapons.  Once the battle begins, Enenra will produce fireballs that will cover the whole area and explode after a short period.

Enenra can travel quickly from one place to the other, which he will use to get close to you. This teleportation allows him to appear behind you, so be ready to dodge his attacks. Most of his attacks can be dodged to the left and keep running in this direction.

One way you can deal Ki damage to this boss is by waiting when he glows red and then using the Burst Counter against his attack. You will also found 4 large pillars in the area, where you can lure Enenra to destroy these pillars, which in return will deal significant Ki damage to the boss. Dealing Ki damage to Enenra will lower its stamina and make him vulnerable to your attacks when he gets staggered.

Enenra also has a weak spot on its back, which is where you can deal the most damage to the boss. When you do get behind the boss, you need to hit the Amrita Crystal which will in return deal damage to Enenra.

Boss #3 – Yatso-no-Kami

Yatsonukami is the third main boss that you face and can be easily identified by his snake-like appearance, with a horn mounted on his face. One of the first attacks this boss has is when it tries to slither to your location and try to stab you with its horn. This is a pretty slow attack that you can easily dodge in either direction.

If you get too close to the boss, it will perform a 360 tail sweep on the ground. One of its main attacks is where it digs its arms in the ground and springs them out from the ground to grab you. This attack leaves the boss slightly vulnerable to your attacks if you successfully dodge the arms and quickly go in for a few strikes.

Another attacking opportunity you get is when it slams its whole body on the ground. If you dodge this attack, you have a couple of seconds to attack. In the second phase of the attack when you enter the Yokai land after depleting the boss’ stamina, the snake arms will separate and fight as two separate enemies that will spit poison at you. You basically have to fight three separate enemies including the boss.

First, take out the smaller snakes and then focus on the main boss. These snake enemies do reappear after some time, but it gives you some time to focus on the main boss.

Boss #4 – Imagawa Yashimoto

This boss comes with a handful of different weapons that it uses against you. Yashimoto will first start the battle with his two trusty swords. With both the swords, he comes at you with two different attacks. After you have successfully dodged them, you will be able to attack as Yashimoto becomes vulnerable after a few swings.

Occasionally, Yashimoto will use his bow that he uses to shoot arrows into the air. These arrows will then land on the ground and you have to run around to miss them. He will also use his Guardian Spirit elephant that will produce electric attacks in a small area. This attack will deal significant damage to you, so it is best to dodge away and not counter attack.

In the final stages of the fight, Yashimoto will bring out his spear which he will use it to make several swings at you. All the attacks with his spear are slow, allowing you to dodge easily and attack when you see an opening.

Boss #5 – Kamaitachi

This boss is a large menacing feline that has large blades on both its front arms and a large blade on its tail. This boss is pretty quick and loves to pounce at you while swinging its blades. Your strategy here is to create some distance between the two of you, and always anticipate its pouncing attacks.

When you get close to this boss, it will first swing with its arms and quickly follow a slice with its tail. You can attack it when it swings with its arm, but the tail has quite a lot of range. When it swings the tail, you have to back off and avoid getting hit.

Kamaitachi will also summon a hurricane that will follow you around. If you get caught it in, it will deal a little damage over time. When the boss climbs up a tree, you can take this time to heal up and get back in the fight.

When the boss performs a Burst attack, you have to wait for it to glow red and then use the Burst Counter at the right time when the cat gets close to you. This will significantly deal Ki damage and drain its stamina. This boss will also come up with its clone in the Yokai land, so all you can do is block any incoming damage.

Boss #6 – Saito Yoshitatsu

This is a human boss that can be seen wearing a helmet with the purple horns. When he begins the fight using his swords, he will try to close the gap and target you before slicing his swords. Saito is not that fast when he is coming after you, but his sword swings are very quick. When he uses the same attack with Odachi, his speed becomes slower but his attacks deal more damage.

Dodging his swings will allow you to counter-attack on your own when you get beside him. Saito also has a torpedo swinging attack which he uses to attack you. For this attack, you should either dodge away or get behind him to attack.

Over time, Saito will use the Yokai Shift which makes him quite dangerous. He gets very fast if he turns into the electric type, which is where you should just focus on evading his attacks until he gets out of it. His fire type will make quite slow but you won’t have any luck dealing damage to him in this form.

When he uses the Odachi, he becomes very slow, so you can have plenty of space to attack him when you dodge his moves.
