Actor Norman Reedus seems to have confirmed that Death Stranding 2 development has officially started. Norman Reedus played the main character in the original Death Stranding and looks like he will be reprising his role as Sam Bridges in Death Stranding 2 as well. While there is no official word by Hideo Kojima or his studio Kojima Productions over the development of Death Stranding 2, the only news is coming from Norman Reedus himself at this point.
Norman Reedus confirmed this during an interview with digital publication Leo Edit where he said that work has officially started on the second title in the franchise. He said:
We just started the second one.
Death Stranding was released back in 2019 on PlayStation 4 and it was later released on PC as well in 2020 by 505 Games. During his detailed interview with Leo Edit, Normal also discussed additional things such as how he got involved with the game and how much time it took to complete his mocap sessions along with everything else. Norman detailed that he was initially approached for the Silent Hill title, and he loved the concept and instantly signed up for it.
However, when Kojima left Konami and the project was canceled, work started on Death Stranding and Norman Reedus moved to the new project. Norman said that after its release, the game won multiple awards and it was a huge thing, so the studio decided to make another one and the work is now started on the title. The best definitive edition of Death Stranding is currently available on PS5 and PC as Death Stranding – Director’s Cut which brings tons of new content and updates to the core game.
At this point, we have no official announcement by Sony or Kojima Productions about Death Stranding 2 however we can take Norman Reedus’ word for it when he says that they are working on the title. We cannot wait to see the official release of the next chapter of this amazing franchise.
