NVIDIA has released a new statement regarding the gaming GPU shortages that has been plaguing the gaming community since the end of last year. In its new statement, NVIDIA has confirmed that it will be hard for gamers to get their hands on brand-new gaming graphics cards till next year.
The statement was made by NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress during NVIDIA’s annual investors day earlier this week. NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3000 was first announced back in September of 2020 but ever since then, the cards have been extremely hard to get.
There are multiple different reasons behind the graphic card shortage. The crypto boom has resulted in miners gobbling up large quantities of gaming graphics cards leaving dust for actual PC gamers. However, the largest contributing factors to the low supply are the lack of raw materials, outsourcing, and the ongoing pandemic.
Since the launch of the GeForce RTX 30 series, NVIDIA and its CEO, Jensen Huang, has issued multiple statements regarding the persistent GPU shortages. The company stated that shipping and logistics along with shortages of components are resulting in poor supply for their next-gen graphics cards.
And now, the latest statement brings further bad news for the gamers who have been waiting for graphics cards for their systems. NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress said the following during Nvidia’s annual investors day on Monday.
We expect demand to continue to exceed supply for much of this year. Our operations team is agile and executing fantastically. We expect our supplies to increase as the year progresses.
NVIDIA has been reintroducing many old graphics cards in the time of global supply shortage of the new generation of GPUs. NVIDIA has also taken a big step by launching crypto mining dedicated CMP series GPUs for mining and also limiting the hash rate on the recently release RTX 3060.
We will have to wait and see how this situation pans out for gamers and when the situation improves.
