Ori and the Will of the Wisps Bosses Guide

Below we have detailed how to defeat all the bosses in the game.

Boss #1 – Howl

Howl is the first boss you will face when you are making your way to the Keystone Door. The first section of the fight is all about escaping from Howl’s clutches. This is where you will need to perform jumps and grapple from various platforms to escape and proceed forward. During your escape, you will come to an area with the fire torch that you can use on Howl to send him away.

The second phase of the fight is where you actually have to fight against Howl. This boss has two attacking moves against you which are both for close-range and long-range. If you stay too far back, Howl will come snapping with his jaw towards you. If you get close to him to attack, he will swipe his claw to slice you.

On the other hand, your strategy should be to attack with the torch after you successfully dodge Howl’s attacks. Wait for the right moment after Howl’s attacks and then proceed swing the torch at him. You can also use the fire to create some space between the two of you if Howl gets too close and corners you to the right.

Boss #2 – Horn Beetle

The Horn Beetle is the second boss you will face in Kwolok’s Hollow. This boss fight gets straight into the action where you are not escaping it until you take it down. This is quite a challenging fight where you not only have to watch out for the Beetle but also the thorns at either side of the area.

The Horned Beetle has a variety of attacks that it does not shy away from using. The first is where it charges at your location if you both have any distance between you two. Fortunately, you can clearly see when the boss is about to execute this move as it charges itself before launching.

The other attacks are the jump where it will jump and slam on the ground at your position. The only way to dodge this attack is by dashing around when the beetle is in the air. Another one of his attacks is where it uses its head to slam the ground in front to release thorns to come out of the ground. Again, you have to jump and avoid these until they disappear.

To beat this boss, you have to jump behind it and attack the red glowing part of its body that will be on its back. This is the only place you can effectively deal damage to the boss. It is also here where the beetle will produce its last attack where it swings around and tries to hit you with its horn. All you have to do is dodge its attacks, get behind it and hit the boss on its weak spot.

Boss #3 – Foul Presence

This boss fight is all about escaping the Foul Presence, which is an enemy with the tentacles that is following you around. The first phase of the escape requires you to jump across platforms and just focus on running ahead. Eventually, you will come across a large wheel that you will drop down to. The rolling wheel will be filled with spikes that you have to be aware, and wait for the wheel to come crashing on the other side and create an opening for you to escape.

Now you will have to proceed forward by grappling and jumping across platforms. You will be faced with grappling three hooks in one go to continue ahead. Finally, you will come to another wheel and more grappling points. From the last grapple point, you will find a hook that you need to grapple and escape.

Boss #4 – Kwolok

Kwolok is the frog-shaped boss that you face in two phases. The first is the phase where you have to escape from him before you can actually have a one on one fight. In the first phase f the fight, Kwolok will begin the fight on the ground. Your strategy in this phase should be to fight with the Spirit Edge and using the crystal to the right side of the area to regen your health.

Kwolok will attack first by spitting out orbs at your location. You can catch and throw them back at Kwolok to deal it some damage. Kwolok will also lash out its tongue to attack you, so you should keep some distance away from him. Over time, Kwolok will produce rocks that will fall from the ceiling. These shouldn’t be something of worry and can easily be dodged.

When the second phase of the fight begins, Kwolok will turn the ground to water. The area will commence the fight halfway in the water and halfway in the air. You can go underwater to dodge some of the Kwolok’s attacks which are the spitting orbs, his poison spit that he shoots underwater and the tongue grab.

When you stay too long in the water, Kwolok will come down and drag his large mouth in the water to suck you in. Be aware of this attack and jump up in the air to hit him while he is midway in this move.

Boss #5 – Mora

Mora is the giant menacing spider that you fight in Mouldwood Depths. This boss also comes in different phases with unique attacks against you. In the first phase of the fight,, Mora will produce four special attacks, where the most used one is where she will try to stab with her feet. This move can be dodged to attack her on the head. Mora also has another variant of this stab where she launches herself all across the area to stab with her legs.

The other attacking move is when Mora slams on the ground to bring out spikes. All you can do is evade this attack by jumping on either side.

When you have depleted enough of Mora’s health, the second phase of the battle will begin. The area will change a little bit with grappling hooks that you can use. The second phase also brings a few other enemies, where Mora will summon smaller spiders to attack you. It is best to take out the smaller enemies before you focus back on Mora.

The second phase has three more attacks, where the first one is where she shoots projectiles from her mouth. The second is the where she will shoot a beam from her mouth. This attack covers a wide distance so you have to steer clear and move to the corners.

Boss #6 – Willow Stone

This is a mini-boss that you encounter in Willow’s End. The boss has a few attacks that you can easily counter. But to deal any damage with your own attacks, you have to first take find an opening by damaging the shields that surround it.

Your job in the fight is to break the rocks and find an opening before you can deal damage. The stone will regen the shield by summoning rocks to protect it. On the other hand, the stone will also be attacking with its laser beam and the pink orbs that it shoots at you. The laser can be easily dodged while you need to dash away from the orbs.

The stone will also remove all the rocks in one of its move, which will give you the best opportunity to deal maximum damage to its exposed body.

Boss #7 – Shriek

Shriek is the final boss in the game, where this bird first shows up in an escape sequence, but later on for the real battle. Being the final boss, Shriek is a tough boss to bet that comes in four different phases with each featuring different attacks.

In the first phase of the fight, Shriek will stamp with its feet on the ground that will end a shockwave on both sides. You have to dodge this attack by jumping in the air to avoid it. Another one of the attacks is where it shoots a beam from its mouth. The beam usually starts from the corner of the area and ends when it reaches the middle.

Another one of its attacks is when Shriek flies away and then slams on the ground with its claws and at your position. It also shoots projectiles that you can use against it by throwing them back. You can produce your own attacks by attacking Shriek’s head. This will deal with most of the damage that you can hit with.

Once you have dealt enough damage, an escape sequence will mark the beginning of the second phase. At the beginning of this phase, Shriek will scream in the air. The blast radius of this attack is big, so you should stay away. Now you should run on to the right and jump across the breaking platforms.

In the third phase of the fight, Shriek will feature most of its previous attacks. However, you need to be aware of his aerial attacks that it produces more than before. Shriek will also slam the ground with its wing, and this move is quite tricky to avoid.

In the final phase, Shriek will step back and order a barrage of projectiles that you have to dodge. Once you do that, you Shriek will step on the platform near you. This is the best time to attack its head. From this point onwards, you just have to repeat with the dodging and then attack.
