Bigben and Black Shamrock have announced that their upcoming video game Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory has been delayed a month. Initially, the digital adaptation of the tabletop game was coming out today but the developers have now pushed the release date into November 2019. The new release date for the title is now November 14, 2019.
The developers did not share any reason behind the delay but it looks like some of the game code for Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory has been stolen by traitors and now Friend Computer is not happy at all. For this very purpose, Friend Computer is now asking all citizens to be extra vigilant so that the culprits behind the theft are found and the game can be released on its newly announced release date.
If you are not aware of Paranoia, it is a cult classic tabletop game and is now arriving on PC in a digital form. This adaptation for not at all an easy task for the developers because of changing times specially the type of humor the game has back in the days. The era of tabletop games has nearly ended and we have seen a lot of tabletop games returning to the modern times as digital games.
Previously, the developers shared a developer diary in which they detailed how difficult it was to keep the original spirit of the tabletop game alive and adjust it according to the modern gaming community. The humor back then used to be a lot different than what it is today. Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory is being made as an RPG and players will get to the play the game as a Red Clearance Citizen. Progress in the main story will grant them increased access.
The main goal of players is to make sure that Friend Computer stays happy however it is paranoid and irrational at the same time. Players will need to keep traitors and troublemakers at bay as they try their best to sabotage different systems and make Friend Computer unhappy which is something you cannot afford at all. This is the first time someone is virtually adopting this cult classic into a video game.
