At the Nintendo Direct event yesterday, Platinum Games has announced a new title for the Nintendo Switch called Astral Chain. This new action game is being directed by Takahisa Taura of Nier: Automata, while also being supervised by Bayonetta’s Hideki Kamiya.
A trailer was also released with a very brief synopsis for the upcoming game.
As part of a police special forces unit in a multicultural, near-future cyberpunk metropolis, players work together with a special living weapon, the Legion, in a synergetic action system of battle and exploration.
The characters in the game were designed by Masakazu Katsura, who is none other than the artist behind the manga and anime of ZETMAN and Video Giri Ai.
Players in the game will be fighting and investigating with a special living weapon called Legion, which can switch into many fighting styles that involve an astral chain object. With it you can both target and attack the same enemy simultaneously, or send your legion on the offensive while you support it with items. However, there is no details as to what type of enemy you are fighting against. Whether they are some sort of aliens of monsters is yet to be known.
In the Ark, a multi-cultural city in the near future, disaster strikes when gates to another dimension suddenly appear! Dangerous creatures begin to emerge, attacking the people and polluting the land, and normal police forces are unable to compete with them. To stand up against these threats, a brand new, special police unit known as Neuron is formed.
You can choose between two characters, wither a male of a female, and whichever you do not chose, becomes your younger twin in the game fighting alongside you.

Bayonetta 3 is in development way before Astral Chain was, but the game still has no release window as of yet.
