Since the launch of PlayStation VR2 last year, Sony has been committed to expanding the horizons of VR gaming for players. Now, the company is excited to announce that starting August 7, PlayStation VR2 users will have the opportunity to access a vast array of VR games on their PCs using the brand-new adapter.
Inspired by the desire to offer gamers more content options, Sony has been diligently working to enable access to additional games on PC, enhancing the diverse PS VR2 games lineup available on PS5. This move aims to provide players with more flexibility and options for their VR gaming experiences.
With the upcoming PlayStation VR2 PC adapter, priced at an estimated $59.99, players can seamlessly connect their PlayStation VR2 headset to their PC. Alongside the adapter, players will need a commercially available DisplayPort cable compatible with DisplayPort 1.4, ensuring a smooth and immersive gaming experience.
To ensure compatibility and optimal performance, Sony has outlined minimum PC requirements for PS VR2 gameplay on PC. These requirements include an Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor, 8 GB or more of RAM, and a compatible GPU such as the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later, among others.
Setting up PS VR2 on PC is straightforward: users simply need to connect their PlayStation VR2 headset to their PC using the adapter and DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Then, they can download the PlayStation VR2 App and the SteamVR App from Steam to customize settings, set up their play area, and start purchasing and playing games in SteamVR.
While some features, such as HDR and adaptive triggers, are exclusive to PS5, players can still enjoy high-fidelity visuals, a wide field of view, finger touch detection, and 3D Audio on PC. However, it’s important to note that performance may vary depending on individual PC setups and game requirements.
To celebrate the upcoming launch of the PlayStation VR2 adapter for PC, Sony is offering a $100 discount on PS VR2 and the PS VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain Bundle (for PS5) until June 12 as part of the Days of Play celebration. This promotion will be available in select regions, so players are encouraged to check direct.playstation.com and participating local retailers for more details.
As the release date approaches, Sony will provide further details on compatibility and setup, ensuring a seamless transition for players eager to explore the expanded lineup of VR games available on PC. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to dive into an exciting world of virtual reality gaming on PlayStation VR2.
