Pokemon Day

February 27, 2023, was celebrated as Pokemon Day, the annual fan-focused pop-culture holiday celebrating the launch of the original Pokemon video games. To keep the celebrations at their peak, a special Pokemon Presents was hosted on Pokemon Day which was filled with tons of new announcements, trailers, information, and reveals of new Pokemon content releasing in 2023 and beyond. This included new content for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet Games, the Netflix Series Pokemon Concierge, Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic, Pokemon Sleep, and tons of more content for the franchise.

To celebrate the Pokemon’s global fanbase on Pokemon Day, The Pokemon Company International also released a digital mosaic in the form of the iconic Poke Ball. The mosaic is composed of photos and videos submitted by fans showcasing their passion for Pokemon as part of a full-year brand campaign inviting them to Pokemon Together. Kenji Okubo, president of The Pokémon Company International also commented:

Pokémon Day is the most exciting day of the year for Trainers, and we’re honored to ‘Celebrate Pokémon Together’ with them by revealing what’s next for the ever-evolving franchise. As we invite fans to ‘Pokémon Together’ in 2023, these new experiences across the brand reflect the growing world of Pokémon and the many ways it continues to connect and bring joy to people of all ages around the world.

Now without further ado, let’s jump into what was revealed at Pokemon Presents:

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero: Downloadable Content for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet players will be happy to know that they will be able to continue their adventure in the game with the new The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC which will bring two different adventures to the game. Part 1: The Teal Mask is slated for launch in Fall 2023 while Part 2: The Indigo Disk will release at a later date. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is now available for purchase at the Nintendo eShop.

In Part 1: The Teal Mask, players will be chosen to take part in a school trip that is held each year in collaboration with another school. They’ll be taken to the land of Kitakami, where a great mountain towers over the land and the people living at its base. It is a place of tranquil natural expanses, featuring rice paddies and apple orchards. The trip seems to coincide with a festival regularly held in the village of Kitakami during this season, so the village is bustling with various street vendors and stalls. Players will meet new friends and Pokémon as they unravel the mysteries behind the folktales that have been passed down in this land.

In Part 1: The Teal Mask and Part 2: The Indigo Disk, players will be able to encounter over 230 familiar Pokémon that have been found living in other regions but had not appeared in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. This includes Pokémon that players will be able to bring to their games via Pokémon HOME or those received in trades.[3] Players will also encounter new Legendary Pokémon – Ogerpon in Part 1: The Teal Mask, and Terapagos in Part 2: The Indigo Disk. In Part 1: The Teal Mask, three Pokémon named Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti also appear. They are beloved by the people of the village as heroes that protected the land of Kitakami in the past and stone statues were made in their likeness to express the people’s gratitude.

Tsunekazu Ishihara, president, and CEO of The Pokémon Company comments:

We are so grateful that millions of Trainers around the world have chosen to explore the expansive Paldea region.  In The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, fans will take a trip to the land of Kitakami where they will meet new Pokémon and interesting characters. I sincerely hope that Trainers who embark on this new journey find the same excitement and joy they experienced when they encountered their first Pokémon.

If you purchase The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero before Tuesday, October 31, 2023, you will be given a serial code for a special gift: a Hisuian Zoroark with three special features.
