The release date of the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Arceus along with the official box art was released today in a new announcement. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is under development at Game Freak and will be published by The Pokemon Company. Pokemon Legends: Arceus will release on Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022. The game was revealed earlier this year however we now have the official box art along with the release date of the title.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the Sinnoh region however the game is set way before the modern Sinnoh region. There were no concepts of Pokemon Trainer or Pokemon League back then and even the Pokeballs were built differently back then. The three starting Pokemon that players will get include Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott. After choosing their starting Pokemon, players will be able to explore the old Sinnoh region and catch more Pokemon.
The star Pokemon of this game is the Arceus who is said to ‘have shaped all there is in this world’. It is an Alpha Pokemon, and players will find out in the game how this mighty Pokemon connects to their journey as they explore the Sinnoh region of days long gone. The game is set before the events of the original Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl titles that are also set in the Sinnoh region.
Set long before the events of #PokemonBrilliantDiamond & #PokemonShiningPearl, #PokemonLegendsArceus takes the series in a new direction, fusing action & RPG elements.

The game will combine new action and RPG elements however we still have to see actual gameplay from the title as the reveal trailer just showcases the world from a different perspective. Since the game now has a release date, we can now expect additional details to start popping soon about the game as well.
The Pokemon Company also recently revealed the release dates for Pokemon Brilliant Diamon and Pokemon Shining Pearl which are remasters of the original titles and will release before Pokemon Legends: Arceus to allow players to experience the brilliant titles in modern visuals on the Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders are now live for Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
