The latest Pokémon game Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!/Pikachu! was just released on Nintendo Switch. Earlier during E3 2017, Nintendo had announced that they will release three Pokémon titles on Nintendo Switch starting with the free title Pokémon Quest and a hardcore Pokémon RPG in 2019.
The next title was Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!/Pikachu! which was just recently released. It is the best game in the franchise when it comes to visuals but lacks many features that previous hardcore Pokémon RPGs featured. It was announced back at E3 2017 that Nintendo will release a proper hardcore RPG in 2019.
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!/Pikachu! brings back nostalgia and offers the first Pokémon with better graphics. It features Kanto region and only Gen-1 Pokémon in it. This is a very basic Pokémon game that hardly qualifies as a true RPG title. The Pokémon battles are only limited to trainers.
The game looks heavily inspired by Pokémon Go as all wild encounters are similar to its simple Pokéball throwing mechanic. It misses on a lot of things which makes it a simple filler game instead of a full-fledged Pokémon RPG. Even with all the things missing, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!/Pikachu! is a fun experience on Nintendo Switch.
Tsunekazu Ishihara who is the CEO of the Pokémon Company had earlier announced that they will release a third planned Pokémon game on Nintendo Switch in 2019 and it will be a proper and the most hardcore Pokémon game out of all titles released so far on the console.
At this point, an exact release date or any more information is not confirmed but since this statement has come from the CEO himself, we can be certain that a new Pokémon game will indeed come in 2019. This will be also the most hardcore Pokémon experience that fans will ever experience from a Pokémon game.
Before Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS received a Pokémon game which was a very good RPG and after Nintendo Switch, it has not received anymore Pokémon games. The developers are also quite on that front and currently there is no announcement of a Pokémon game coming to Nintendo’s handheld in the near future so all eyes are on the next Nintendo Switch title.
The next title might be announced at E3 2019 or during any of Nintendo Direct events during 2019. We will surely update you once any more information is released on the next Pokémon title. For the time being, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!/Pikachu! is the best Pokémon game to play.
