It is now official that Project Cars 3 will be a thing and the studio is already working on it. This was confirmed by the CEO of Slightly Mad Studios in a GTPlanet forum post. No further details were however released about the game at this point.
The last title in the franchise Project Cars 2 came out in 20 and it was a major improvement over the first game title in the series. The game had more cars, more tracks, more detailed car tuning and more customization options as well for the car. There were also more racing disciplines in the car along with more racing modes.
Project Cars 2 was released back in the second half of 2017 and it was received pretty well by the racing community. The game is a pure racing simulator and it features simulation handling which makes it not playable by casual gamers. The game is best played with a racing wheel and pedals which is not everyone’s cup of tea. Playing with the controller makes the game very hard because of all the hardcore simulator mechanics in it.
With one year gone, it seems like Slightly Mad Studios has moved on from Project Cars 2 and is now already working on Project Cars 3. Currently, no release date has been given for the game and no details have been shared about the game as well but the CEO Ian Bell states in his statement that Project Cars 3 will
Blow anything else, planned by anyone else, out of the water.
Project Cars 2 was not perfect and it was lacking on a lot of fronts. It seems like the studio is already working on the next game and this means that support for Project Cars 2 will be minimal now. Slightly Mad Studios seems to be going in the same direction as other game developers where they release a title and then move on to the next one within the 1, 2 year cycle.
This is not the best practice for the games and it would have been much better if the developers had worked more on Project Cars 2 and made it better because it has a lot of potential and it could become one of the best racing simulators out there with a little bit of more work.
I would personally prefer if developers would spend more time on released titles and make them better rather than releasing a new game with little new things every 1 or 2 years.
