Sony has announced that its PS4 exclusive Days Gone is coming to PC in the coming months and it is not the only PlayStation exclusive coming to PC. This was revealed by Jim Ryan, the CEO of Sony in an exclusive interview with GQ where he stated that their last year was an experiment to see how the sales of PS4 exclusives on PC and how the community reacts to it. The trend will now continue, and the first release of this year is Days Gone, and it will release on PC in Spring 2021.
Speaking with GQ, Jim Ryan said:
We assessed the exercise in two ways. Firstly, in terms of the straightforward success of the activity of publishing the game on PC, people liked it and they bought it. We also looked at it through the lens of what the PlayStation community thought about it. There was no massive adverse reaction to it. So we will continue to take mission steps in this direction.
This is not the first time that a PlayStation Exclusive is coming to PC. It started with Quantic Dream releasing its entire library of PlayStation Exclusives including Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human on PC. Following suit, Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding was also released on PC which was later followed by Horizon Zero Dawn which is considered one of the best titles on the PS4. Now, we have Days Gone coming to PC and in the future, more titles are coming to PC as well.
It shows that PlayStation might be following the same strategy as that of Microsoft because all Xbox Series and Xbox One exclusives are also available on PC and it certainly gives a much broader player base to the game. This is also good for the publishers and developers as more players will buy and play their titles rather than limiting it to just one platform. Going multiplatform will certainly help Sony boost their sales even more.
