Psychonauts 2

Psychonauts 2 has just received a new gameplay trailer shown by Microsoft at the E3 2019 press conference, also adding that they have acquired the developer of the game Double Fine Productions.

The trailer shows Raz tasked with a new job and facing new enemies. He comes with new friends in this sequel to the 2004 platformer from Double Fine Productions. Take a look at the gameplay trailer shown at the Microsoft E3 2019 press conference.

Microsoft’s acquisition of the developer means that the game will come on the Xbox Game Pass. Psychonauts 2 was previously announced at the 2015 Game Awards followed by crowdfunding that later reached $3 million. Fans can still pre-order through the crowdfunding page.

Double Fine Production’s head Tim Schafer also posted a video that explains everything they could say about the acquisition by Microsoft. Schafer explains that the studio still plans to honor all crowdfunding-related commitments. Also adding that he and the team have no intention of changing the kind of games that they make. He also admits that with the acquisition, the team can now focus on making a game rather than pitching it all over the world and look to secure funding.

Getting back to Psychonauts, the game is not only coming on the Xbox One but also comes to other platforms as well. It will be available for the PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, and Linux. While there is no confirmation of a release date, the game is slated to be released in 2019. Neither Microsoft nor Double Fine Productions have provided an exact date.

The first game in the series came out back in 2005, where the psychic detective Razputin would have to solve puzzles by diving into the brains and uncover twisted and hidden secrets.
