Publisher astragon Entertainment and developer Stefan Kelnberger have released the latest trailer for Railroads Online showcasing steam engines. The developer has also announced that the game will be leaving its Early Access phase this year along with a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release and it will feature the most complete version of the game. The console release of the game will include every single bit of content added to the game during its Early Access phase and the PC version will also receive additional content at its full release.
Set against the backdrop of the golden age of steam locomotives, Railroads Online invites you into a vast, open world where they can construct tracks, switches, and stations to create intricate networks for industrial supply chains. The game promises an open sandbox world where you can create your dream railroad networks, either solo or in multiplayer mode with up to 16 players. With over 20 authentic locomotives at their disposal, you can transport various goods through a richly designed landscape that reflects the transformative power of steam transportation from the 1870s to the early 1900s.

The game includes legendary steam engine models such as the Montezuma, the renowned Baldwin steam engines, the powerful Class 125, and the iconic “Betsy.” Many of these historic locomotives are no longer in existence, with some only preserved in rare instances. The development team meticulously researched through specialist publications, preserved documents, and surviving models in North American museums to recreate these iconic machines as faithfully as possible within the game.
In celebration of the third anniversary of Railroads Online’s Early Access launch, an Anniversary Update is now available. This update introduces several highly requested features, including an in-game chat to facilitate better communication among you and a complete redesign of the user interface. Additionally, new camera perspectives and enhanced loading options are included to improve the overall experience when managing goods.
Currently available on Steam Early Access for PC via Steam, Railroads Online will have a full release this fall for $34.99. Railroads Online is scheduled for a digital release this autumn on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for $39.99. A physical version for PS5 will follow later. Players who purchased the game during its Early Access phase on Steam will also receive the Pioneer DLC for free upon full release.
