Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is probably the most successful title in Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six franchise and we can easily see that by the continuous updates and content that this game is receiving even after 5 years of its release. Ubisoft is making sure that the game is staying alive with the online community by introducing brand new operations and adding new operators to the game. Now, Ubisoft has revealed the brand new upcoming operation Steel Wave for Rainbow Six Siege.
Operation Steel Wave was announced in Ubisoft remote livestream and it is the second season of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Year 5. The two new operators joining the game as part of Operation Steel Wave are Ace and Melusi. Ace is an Attacker from Norway while Melusi is a Defender from South Africa. Along with these new operators, the new operation is also bringing a brand new reworked House map along with a bunch of gameplay changes.
According to the official press release, Ace is described as:
Norwegian Attacker Ace and South African Defender Melusi are the two new Operators coming in Operation Steel Wave. As a part of the Norwegian Home Guard, Ace acquired a heroic reputation. After being accepted into the Forsvarets Spesialkommando, on a joint UN operation in Somalia, Ace emerged saving Kali’s life. The offer to join NIGHTHAVEN swiftly followed. Ace is equipped with S.E.L.M.A., a throwable and stickable device that will stick to any vertical surface and slowly destroy up to 3 panels, one after the other. The S.E.L.M.A gadget can also be thrown at almost any defensive gadget and destroy it with its arms or water explosive.
While Melusi is described as:
Melusi signed up with the South African National Defence Force to broaden her skillset and fund her field ranger training. After an ambush left her badly wounded, she resigned from the military and – as the heart of the Inkaba Task Force Anti-Poaching Unit – began training local women in tracking, interception, and surveillance. Melusi is equipped with Banshee deployable electronic gadgets. It applies a slowing effect to any attackers that are in a direct line of sight. The Banshee can also be used as an intel gadget as it produces an identifiable sound when an attacker entire its range.
The reimagine House map has been newly reworked and players will find the map better than ever before. The most notable changes in the house include expansions to the basement area, attic and office tower. Apart from these major changes, players will also find many other changes throughout the map and the design has been made with the intent of evolving gameplay meta. Some more game updates include:
- Unified MMR
- Amaru Buff
- Proximity Alarm
- Addition of Echo Elite set
According to Ubisoft, the test server for Operation Steel Wave will go live on May 19, 2020, that is today. This Test Server is an alternate version of Rainbow Six Siege which allows players to test upcoming gameplay features such as new maps and operators before they become part of the full game. Since these are testing environments, players can expect inconsistent gameplay experiences and any issues can be reported to Rainbow Six Siege. Only PC players have access to this Test Server.
