VGC has reported that Capcom apparently is now working on a Resident Evil 4 Remake. It may be following in the footsteps of the exceptionally well reception of both Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake but it seems like the developer is not stopping in its tracks just now. Final Fantasy 4 is considered as one of the best titles in the franchise especially after the mixed reception of both Resident Evil 5 and 6.
According to VGC’s report, the news comes from various authentic sources and the development of the new title is being led by M-Two, the new studio formed by the former PlatinumGames head Tatsuya Minami. The reports also claim that the development studio has been preparing for Resident Evil 4 Remake for the past 2 years which means that talks started about a remake back in 2018. The game will be co-developed by Resident Evil 2 Remake and Devil May Cry V team who will help out M-Two in the development of Resident Evil 4 Remake and the development team is much bigger as that of Resident Evil 3 Remake.
If you don’t know, M-Two previously worked on the development of Resident Evil 3 Remake as well however the studio’s involvement in the development was very minimalistic and its main focus was always on its own project. With Resident Evil 4 Remake in their hands, the studio really has to deliver because fans love Resident Evil 4 and it can be seen by the game’s rating which is the highest when compared to any other Resident Evil games ever released.
Resident Evil 4 was released on Nintendo GameCube back in 2005 and it was later ported to PS2. The PC version was released in 2007 as well as a Wii Edition was released in the same year. An HD version dubbed Resident Evil 4 HD was released for PSN, Xbox Live Games on Demand and PC. Finally, the game was later re-released on PS4 and Xbox One as well in 2016. The most recent release of Resident Evil 4 is on Nintendo Switch which was released back in 2019.
The fans are not sure at this point whether they want to see Resident Evil 4 come back as a remake or not because the original game was the best and there is a chance that the new Remake might not be as good as the original one lowering the overall impression of the title. Fans all over social media are saying that they would rather have a Remastered version of the long-forgotten Dino Crisis franchise or the classic Resident Evil – Code: Veronica.
