Review: Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard

Review: Frog Detective 2

Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard is the second title by Worm Club in its brilliant little Frog Detective series. Before I begin with my review, I will mention that before this game, I was not aware of this franchise and it was only now that I got to play the series. It is sad that I missed the first part and played directly the second title, I will not go back and play the first one as well because this series is absolutely brilliant. I will recommend that before you play Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard, I will highly recommend that you play the first title The Haunted Island: A Frog Detective game. Now let’s jump in our review of Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard.

Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard features the cute little Frog detective who now heads towards the cozy, little town of Warlock Woods nestled between the woods away from the bustling city. The small town has a caring community and everyone knows their neighbors and is actually quite fond of each other. The houses are all in a circle with different community events happening in the middle where the animal residents can arrange parties similar to the one specific to our investigation in the game.

Review: Frog Detective 2

This little town is in the center of drama when the community wakes up to find their arrangements and hard work demolished they did for a welcome party for a new neighbor who happens to be a wizard. To make matters worse, the new neighbor has now locked themselves in their home and will not answer to any of the confused and heartbroken neighbors. The case immediately falls on the shoulders of Frog Detective who arrives on the scene with his trusty magnifying glass and his brand new notebook.

The notebook is a new mechanic in Frog Detective 2 and is a really good addition to the game. Detective Frog writes everything in this notebook for your future references which include tips, clues and other requirements about his current case. You will find information of all the characters, what do they need and other information such as their current relationship with the case inside this notebook so it is a very good addition to the series and will certainly come in handy down the road. To make the notebook your own, you can even customize it with stickers at the start.

After arriving in Warlock Woods, you must begin your investigation by interacting with the local community and figuring out a way to earn their trust so that you can get to the bottom of the mystery and finally solving the case. The gameplay is really smooth, the animations are decent and overall, the game really sets a spooky stage for its brand new case involving an actual invisible wizard. You will need to solve simple puzzles and find different things hidden in the game to finally solve yet another case successfully and ensure the future of your crime-solving agency.

A full playthrough of Frog Detective 2 will take around an hour or so if you take your time with everything. If you want to unlock all endings, you will need to play the game twice however it has enough of the fun factor to keep you entertained a second time around. The short time required to complete the game makes it perfect for short breaks and there is literally no learning curve in there so you are having fun right from the start of the game. If you love little detective games that are filled with colorful characters and a cute little world and do not want to stress out too much looking for clues than this game is certainly for you.

Final Verdict:

Frog Detective 2: The Case of the Invisible Wizard is not your hardcore detective titles. Rather, it packs humor, simple gameplay mechanics and anyone with a little bit of detective in them can easily solve the simplistic cases the game throws at you. Or should I say, case. Each part is basically a single case. The first game in the franchise featured a single case while this one focuses on the case of the Invisible Wizard and who trashed their neighborhood welcome party. The game is brilliant, simple and enough fun to keep you on your toes throughout your gameplay. A highly recommended game or should I say, series.

Final Score: 9/10
