In Rise of the Ronin, there’s more to do than just fighting. You can also find romance in the game. There are several characters you can build a romantic relationship with, but you need to put in effort to increase your bond with them and achieve a Veiled Vow. Follow our Rise of the Ronin Romance Guide and get all the tips you are going to need to bloom a romance.
Romance Guide – Rise of the Ronin
Below you will find everything that you need to know about romance in Rise of the Ronin such as increasing favor, finishing a Veiled Vow as well as details on all of the romanceable characters in the game.
Increasing Favor In Rise Of the Ronin
You can improve your favor with characters who can enter Veiled Vows, similar to building bonds with allies and companions. Here are three main ways to do this:
- Agree with them in conversations: Always agree with them during talks, whether you’re directly speaking to them or they are part of the conversation. For extra flavor, choose slightly flirty responses when available.
- Complete Bond Missions: The best way to strengthen your bond and gain favor is by completing specific Bond Missions for them. Helping them out or working together on missions will significantly boost your status with them.
- Give them gifts: Each character has a favorite gift based on their likes. Visit them at their bases or invite them to your Longhouse to give these gifts. You can’t give gifts too frequently, and you’ll be advised to wait before giving another favorite gift.
When you see a pop-up saying you need to go to a certain place, visit the character there to improve your favor and unlock a Veiled Vow. This pop-up means a dialogue option with an exclamation mark will appear, indicating a chance to change your relationship. This usually leads to a conversation called a Scene in the game.
How Does Veiled Vow Work?
After you’ve gained enough favor with a character, a gold banner will appear. It will say, “It seems that you two have something important to discuss,” and show the character’s icon. This means you can start a Veiled Vow with them.
Find and talk to the character again, choosing the dialogue option with the exclamation mark. Your protagonist will then have the option to say something like “I want to take our relationship further” or “I’m falling for you,” which will start the Veiled Vow. In the bonds menu, the Favor bar with that character will show that you’re in a Veiled Vow, and a flower will appear next to the bar.
Finishing A Veiled Vow
You can be in multiple Veiled Vows at once. However, if you prefer to end one relationship before starting another, you can inform the person. Look for a dialogue option with an exclamation mark indicating you need to talk. Select this option to ask to return to the previous relationship status.
