ROCKFISH Games, the masterminds behind the popular open-world spaceship looter shooter action RPG EVERSPACE 2, has rolled out a significant free update called Incursions. Available now on PC and PlayStation, with Xbox soon to follow, this update brings a plethora of new gameplay elements, items, and enhancements to the expansive universe of EVERSPACE 2.
The release of the Incursions update comes hot on the heels of ROCKFISH Games’ major triumph at the 2024 Deutsche Computerspielpreis, where EVERSPACE 2 clinched the prestigious Best German Game award, marking a significant achievement for the game developed in Germany.

The Incursions update delves deeper into the rich lore of EVERSPACE 2, introducing epic space battles in the latter part of the story campaign. Players will face the threat of Ancient Entities breaching reality from rift space, challenging skilled space pilots to repel hordes of enemies and dismantle beacons that act as gateways for these interdimensional invaders.
Apart from the exhilarating Incursions gameplay, EVERSPACE 2 players can expect to discover 15 new legendary items, alongside fresh front, rear, and cockpit modules, and a range of new reliquary treasure items accessible in the revamped Ancient Rift mode. The update also brings a revamped photo mode, enhancements to the Scout “Shadow Strike” ultimate ability, increased legendary item capacity per loadout, and various community-requested improvements. Additionally, Xbox and PlayStation players can now enjoy controller button remapping, fulfilling a popular request from the community.
One of the most significant highlights of the Incursions update is the migration of EVERSPACE 2 from Unreal Engine 4 to 5.3. This migration enables the integration of cutting-edge features such as Lumen GI on DirectX 12, Nvidia Reflex latency reduction, Intel XeSS upscale, AMD FSR 3.0 upscale with frame interpolation, and Nvidia Frame Generation for high-end PC players, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
Michael Schade, CEO, and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games expressed excitement about the update, stating, “Bringing EVERSPACE 2 to Unreal Engine 5.3 alongside all the new Incursions content was a monumental challenge that the team tackled in stride.” He further emphasized the team’s commitment to future-proofing the game while continuing to deliver premium content.
Alongside the update, ROCKFISH Games has unveiled the EVERSPACE 2 Supporter Pack on Steam, catering to superfans with a range of ship cosmetic options priced at $9.99. These options include ship skins, decals, lighting effects, and engine effects for players looking to enhance their gaming experience and support the development team.
EVERSPACE 2 is available across multiple platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, GOG, and the Microsoft Store, offering players an immersive journey through a captivating sci-fi universe filled with adventure and danger.
ROCKFISH Games delivered an absolute blast of a sequel with EVERSPACE 2 and we have its wonderful Accolades Trailer to prove it, alongside the teaser trailer for its Drake: Gang Wars update, Xbox Game Pass arrival trailer, Zharkov: The Vortex Update, First Early Access Update trailer, detailed roadmap reveal, Early Access Preview, and Early Access Launch announcement trailer. EVERSPACE 2 started its journey as a Kickstarter project during which it showcased in-game locations, HOTAS support, exclusive Closed Beta, gameplay trailers, Closed Alpha, and Concept Art.
Its Early Access launch was delayed on two separate occasions, one in March 2020 and then again in November 2020. Its Kickstarter campaign had a massive goal of $493,000 which was achieved on its final campaign day. The developer kept gamers in the loop with a regular influx of new information during this period. We were lucky enough to get our hands on an early access prototype of the game back in May 2020 for our preview.
