Roguelite-City Builder Hybrid EcoGnomix Now Available on PC

Developer Irox Games and publisher Untold Tales have officially announced the PC Steam launch of EcoGnomix. EcoGnomix is a unique blend of turn-based roguelite mining and cozy city-building and is now available on PC via Steam and GOG. The quirky hybrid game is set to release on Nintendo Switch later in November 2024, with the PC version available at a discounted price of $15.99 until October 14, 2024.

EcoGnomix invites you into a whimsical world where they must guide a team of gnomes on expeditions into enchanted caves, gathering resources to expand their village above ground. The deeper the gnomes venture, the more dangerous the caves become, with strategic decision-making required to balance resource gathering and survival.

You take on the role of a village builder and team strategist, tasked with selecting specialized gnomes for each expedition. The roguelite mechanics mean that each trip into the caves is different, with the team needing to adapt to ever-changing challenges. As they dig deeper into various biomes, gnomes must fend off foes and avoid hazards, like collapsing tunnels and resource-hungry bats, while ensuring enough supplies to make it back to the village.

The turn-based gameplay requires you to plan each move, gather resources, and fight enemies while the cave environment gradually becomes more unstable. The challenge lies in knowing when to push forward for more rewards or retreat to safety before it’s too late.

Above ground, you get to build and grow their gnome village. The resources brought back from each expedition allow for the unlocking of new buildings, production chains, and economic upgrades that improve the gnomes’ chances in future runs. The village development plays a critical role in ensuring the gnome teams can explore deeper into the labyrinthine caves and gather more valuable treasures.

EcoGnomix offers plenty of variety with its team customization feature, enabling you to change and upgrade your gnome squads as needed. Each expedition can be tailored, with gnomes possessing different specialties and abilities that can be combined in strategic ways. Every run provides opportunities to experiment with new tactics and strategies, making each playthrough unique. Regardless of how a run ends, you never leave empty-handed. Every expedition contributes to village growth, offering a rewarding progression system that ensures steady development over time.
