Modus Games’ Rustler Now Available on Steam Early Access, Game Releases This Year

Developer Jutsu Games and publisher Modus Games’ medieval madness, horse-stealing title Rustler is available now on Steam Early Access. The game is set to release on consoles later this year on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. In addition, the physical pre-order of the game can be bought from the game’s website.

The announcement was accompanied by the console announcement trailer which showcased the absolute madness that players will be embarking on. Check out the video below to take a look at how the gameplay works, how players can betray each other, have a human follow you around, etc.

Become a medieval thug in a crazy open-world action game, full of pop-culture references. Complete insane quests, kill heroes, steal horses, fight guards, rob peasants, listen to some bard music, and much more! All packed in old-school gameplay style!

According to the developer, the Early Access version of the game is to give players a chance to participate in the development of the game. Developer Jutsu Games estimates that it will take about 6 months to prepare all the features and content that they plan to add to the final version of the game.

The Early Access version of the Rustler is fully playable, and contains all the crucial features implemented, with major bugs fixed and performance tweaked. This means that interested players will not miss out on much when the final version does release later this year.

The final version of Rustler will bring in the following things:

  • Additional quests and minigames
  • Expand the variety of weapons, horses, and carts
  • Difficulty balancing for the best player experience
  • Improvements to the game’s world environment
  • Additional performance optimizations
  • An extra couple of surprises and implementation of player feedback
