Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy S21 series at their Samsung Unpacked and during the unveiling event, Samsung has dropped a bombshell which consumers feared the most. Following Apple’s footsteps, Samsung has also ditched the charger and headphones in the box for their new S21 series mobile phones.
Just like the iPhone 12 series, the Samsung Galaxy S21 series will not ship with any charger or headphones. This was rumored for quite sometime before the official release but now it has been confirmed from the event that Samsung will no longer be shipping earphones or travel adapters with the Galaxy S21 series.
Samsung has given the same reasoning as Apple that they are aiming for a greener planet. Samsung did not explain in detail why they removed the charger and earphones, they slip out enough information about their aim for a greener planet.
In the graphic showcased by Samsung of the components in the box of the Galaxy S21 phone series, at the bottom left of the image, you will see that the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra do not include a travel adapter.
The Galaxy S21 phones will also not ship with earphones in the box, but pre-ordering will net you the Galaxy Buds Pro, which is a good deal. Samsung has also omitted the expandable storage option from the Galaxy S21 phones but that that is not noted anywhere on the official marketing material.
Currently, the highest available storage option in the Galaxy S21 series is 512 GB for the S21 Ultra. The Galaxy S21 Ultra and the rest of the devices in the series are available to pre-order starting today. The phone will be available in Phantom Black and Phantom Silver. In addition to that, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is also available in Phantom Brown, Phantom Navy, and Phantom Titanium but these colors are exclusive to samsung.com.
Pricing for different S21 Ultra variants are as follows:
- 12/128GB: $1,199
- 12/256GB: $1,249
- 16/512GB: $1,379
