SNK CORPORATION has announced that their weapon-based fighting game SAMURAI SHODOWN is releasing on Steam next month with a new DLC character. Before this, SAMURAI SHODOWN was only available on PC via Epic Games Store however with the recent announcement, fans will now be able to purchase and play SAMURAI SHODOWN on Steam as well starting next month.
The Steam release will be accompanied by a brand-new DLC character AMAKUSA as well. AMAKUSA is the third DLC character in Season Pass 3. SAMURAI SHODOWN was earlier released on all major platforms including PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and PC via Epic Games Store. After its Steam release, we can look forward to a PS5 release of the game as well however there is no official word on it so far.
The latest DLC character arriving in the game SHIRO TOKISADA AMAKUSA is part of the franchise from the very first game back in 1993 where he appeared as the final boss. After the first title, AMAKUSA also appeared in SAMURAI SHODOWN III (1995), SAMURAI SHODOWN IV: AMAKUSA’S REVENGE (1996), and SAMURAI SHODOWN V SPECIAL (2004). AMAKUSA will be joining the already available CHAM CHAM and HIKIKI TAKANE with the fourth DLC fighter coming later this year.
Apart from this, SNK has also announced the TEAM ART OF FIGHTING for the upcoming THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV featuring Ryo Sakazaki, Robert Garcia, and King returning to the franchise after 21 years. The team comes with its own story and endings.
SNK officially described the new team members as:
RYO SAKAZAKI
Ryo is the son and entrusted owner of Takuma Sakazaki’s dojos for the Kyokugenryu school of Karate. As a child, Ryo spent his time training his body, and eventually became so powerful that he was nicknamed The Invincible Dragon. Naturally, he is extremely strong-willed, and will spare no effort getting things done. Even to this day, he continues to train himself to his maximum potential.
ROBERT GARCIA
Robert is the assistant instructor at Ryo’s dojo. Legitimate heir of the Garcia Foundation in Italy, Robert joined the Kyokugenryu dojo against the wishes of his father and quickly became Ryo’s best friend and training partner. Robert excels at kick attacks with his long legs. Robert also has not-so-secret feelings for Ryo’s sister, Yuri.
KING
King’s fighting style is her own form of Muay Thai. She’s the owner of the bar Illusion, and her tall stature allows for her legs to really pack a punch. She joins team ART OF FIGHTING thanks to Ryo’s invitation.
